Title: Multiplayer problems
Post by: Akira_Commander567 on June 18, 2008, 08:21:53 am
I was told by FPF-Palidan to post the details that have been keeping me from playing online. Allright, I'm putting the disk in when I start up Palidan, I also have a satelilite connection.I don't know much else of what's wrong. Please help me ASAP.

Satelite?   Even if you get this working the lag do to latency will be horrible.

The disk isn't needed at all.   In fact, NOTHING checks CD keys so tell all your pirate friends.   In fact I know there's a BIT Torrent out there for OP . . .

Need more details.   First, are you using a router?  I'm going to assume this is a yes.  Easiest way to get this working is place the PC in the DMZ of the router and turn off ALL software firewall.

Are you running StarFleetOp.exe instead of the default .exe?

I've got no idea.If I don't have administrator acceas or have any knowlege of how to get the info you seek. This is my parent's computer so I can't turn off any firewall software, beshides there's none anyway.

You have to go into My Computer, C: drive, Program Files, Taldren Software Inc., Starfleet Command Orion Pirates, and fine the StarfleetOP file.. right click, select copy, go to desktop, right click, select Paste Shortcut, then use this shortcut to launch game.. the shortcut in the start menu is pointing to the wrong file and will cause the game to play buggy.

Satellite will cause you to lag out of online game play, so will windows firewall (built into Windows XP and Windows Vista) which must be disabled along with Universal Plug and Play in the services.msc control panel, and finally Vista players have a hard time playing on the dynaverse at all since the server kit, OP client (player) and Vista networking don't like each other.. movement can take up to 2 min.. so does repairing ships, placing a bid, supplies.. now the actual missions work just fine, it is the campaign part of Dynaverse that has a hard time on Vista.. a work around is still being worked on.

XP users have no issues so far.. I highly recommend that anyone using a Vista computer, use my Dual boot guide and Dual boot the system with both Vista and XP so that you will have new program compatibility with Vista, and old program compatibility with XP.. You will need to first download the Windows XP drivers for all your hardware that is listed in Device Manager, and then you will also have to have a Windows XP install disk, not a system manufacturers repair disk, but a store bought copy of XP.. (not upgrade version either).. preferrably the Professional edition.

Stores don't sell XP no more, I think I'm screwed.

I'm talking about stores like Wal-Mart and K-Mart.

no, Wal-Mart and K-Mart are not technology stores.. they are only going to have a limited selection of technology items.
BestBuy, CircuitCity have XP in stores.. now Microsoft will adventually be stopping the flow of XP out to stores, so they will adventually have no choice but to switch to all Vista once XP stocks run out, but Bestbuy and Circuit city will still have XP for now. It is still much cheaper to get XP online though.

The reason I mentioned the stores like the for mentioned ones is because my parents won't let me buy things online. No idea why I can't, I just know I'm not allowed.

If you have a CompUSA or any actual PC shop like Electrotex or Computex or maybe even Best Buy or Circuit City, then you should be able to find a full install version.. XP Pro does not come off the market until June 31, 2008.. Wal-Mart and K-Mart have never carried a Full Install version.. only the upgrade versions.

Circuit City has it in the Home Edition

You can talk to your parents and have them order it online from places like New Egg ... it is way cheaper

$130  no shipping

Or Tiger Direct

$140  no shipping

both are secure sites.. I use them all the time to build computers.. My current rig was mostly built from Newegg with a few parts from Tiger Direct.

I am Dual Booting Vista Home Premium 64 bit with Windows XP Professional 32 bit.

No problems what so ever.
