Another of Atolm's fabulous warbirds is under construction. Although she is in the early stages of development, I thought I'd show the initial progress just to see if anyone is paying attention. lol
-
These designs look interesting, but why are the edges so thick?
-
I think so to I would thin them out at the wings. The farther out you go the thinner the hull would look better. You can keep the front area wide still but might want to round them a bit and make the wings thinner as they go back
-
I mean, all of the Atlom-rendered warbirds look like fine examples... but all those edges are so blocky! They'd look much better if they were tapered off to look thinner.
-
Another nice start on an excellent Atolm design.
-
Everything is just temporary at this point, especially the textures. Still a lot of work to be done here...wings need to be thinned out, etc. Also, I am considering two versions...one similar to the one shown and a second one with the wings up.
-
Lookin' Good!
I like the original design, but I do have to say the wings up adds a little something. It makes the ship seem like it's in motion even though it's sitting still. So if you do only one mesh - my vote would be for wings up.
-
The wings up version is the actual design so if I get limited in time, it will be the one that gets done but hopefully I can do both, Been working on the bridge area as of late.
-
Making a little progress on this warbird...remember everything is still temparary at this point and the intent is to do two versions. One with the wings like this and a second with the wings up.
-
Again, why are the wing edges so thick? Why not taper the ends of the trailing feathers?

Wings down mesh mostly complete...wings have been thinned somewhat and champhered
-
Okay, the mesh for the wings down version is 99% complete...a tweak here or a tweak there is all that left.
Now, wouldn't it be cool if the wings could raise and lower. Unfortunately, it isn't within my skill set to do so. :( Nor can Milkshape handle such things either.
Probably will work on the uplifted wing version (mesh) next then do one texture set.
-
Send me the upwing mesh, ill tweak it into a downwing version

Very nice progress PM. She's gonna be another great one to have in game!
-
+++ massive kudos for tackling some of azels more complicated meshes.
looks real nice mate. ur doing az proud with ur work ;)
-
thanks gents...work on the upliifted winged version progresses slowly at the moment
-
okay, a quick look at the winged up version...textures are still temporary at this point
-
Okay, the mesh for the uplifted wing version is mostly completed. So what do you all think?
Furyofaseraph, I'll send you the meshes soon if you still want to tweak out a down winged version.
-
That's awesome!
-
Nicely done PM, your ability to take Atolm's complex designs and turn them into a reality is simply amazing - thanks once again for sharing your art with all of us! If you'd like me to convert her to SFC3 just send her my way with a read file you'd like.
-
Okay Shadowfleet but I have to make the textures first and I hate that part as it is so time consuming. Anyone good at texturing. :D lol Just thinki, I don't even have the SFC games... :(
Oh by the way, at Atolm's suggestion, I made a small tweak to the mesh
-
If you provide the rough blank textures that are pictured. I can try my hand at texture bashing something together. I've never done textures form scratch but I have done some graphic art work and have altered quite a few textures to customise my own SFC fleets. The conversion'll take longer of course but I'm ready to give it a try.
As for not having an SFC game, I'm thinking I'm gonna have to talk to Santa... SFC kept my mind off more fretful business and even boredom during several long deployments. I play a skirmish nearly every week even now. Someone with your talent should have a copy to enjoy what you've created.
-
Oklay guys, I decided I needed the practice and started trying to texture the lady myself. I do appreciate the offers and you all are more than welcome to give her a go in addition. If you still want to let me know and I will send you the flies. Here is a quick preview of what I've done to date.
-
Its a promising start mate, looks clean ;)
-
Alright Pep, yer next...(Yes, I am on a clean up rant on stuff that should have been released, but has not... so your up) :police:
I know, somewhere this boid is done, and is waiting to leave the nest, so how about it
-
Actually, I have been in a bit of a slup lately and haven't had the heart to finish the textures off. Having trouble just keeping my head above the water at the moment...that 100 lb sack on my back is tiring.
I shall endeavor to get it done before the new year. ;)
