Title: SFC2 CD Key Problem

I originally got SFC 1 and 2 back when they were new and enjoyed them...until I tried playing in the original Dynaverse and got frustrated with its at-the-last-moment server setup.  Eventually, I went on to different games and my SFCs gathered dust in my games box.

Until now.

After a hectic morning getting them both installed and patched under Vista, I found SFC1 seems to play without any problems --- but SFC2 has me stopped cold at the CD-Key screen, refusing to accept the key that's still boldly printed on its jewel case sticker.

At this point, I'm ready to consider CD key hacks in order to play my store-bought copy, and that would be a damn shame. Is there something maybe involved with Vista that's preventing the key being recognized, or something I need to adjust to get the key to accept?

I assume by stop cold it means you can't type in the box?
if so...
this is one of those problems with the SFCOP.exe, after it runs the movies, it doesnt have the program selected, so what you basically just need to do is click the little windows key on your keyboard to get it to minimize, then click on the program again back in the taskbar to remaximize it. It will then allow you to retype in the box.
Or, you can go to the installed directory and manually launch StarfleetOP.exe
NOTE: Single Player, and IP games will play just fine on Vista, but Dynaverse2 is still extremly buggy on Vista. Me, Bonk, and Pesty have managed to get it a bit better(see the Vista thread in Dyanverse II forums) but it still will lag badly at various points

Nope, I mean I can type in my CD key --- I've tried it with and without hyphens, with and without upper-case --- and it's rejected.  The game seems to be working as intended, it just doesn't recognize my CD key. Note that this is EAW, not OP, if that makes any difference.

You need to send a PM to FA_Frey_XC to request a CD key for your game.. You will also need information from the jewel case and the CD itself to show as proof of purchase before Frey will issue a CD key.

Same problem same deal.
