Ack! Seems an issue has cropped up.
IE8 Released
It's out there. Better hold off deploying it until you have tested all your browser-based apps and are sure that there are no incompatibilities. A few of our developers using dual screen machines found that after the IE8 install, the second screen was disabled and uninstalling IE8 fixed it.
The Wall Street Journal PC review honcho Walt Mossberg, who stated that browsers by now are the most important piece of software on a computer, thinks IE8 is a big improvement over IE7 and a "much closer competitor to its main rival Firefox." (which he still prefers over IE8 by the way)
IE8 looks to have improved stability, better compatibility with web standards, easier navigation and search, and better privacy and security. Redmond also leapfrogged competitive products with new features like Web Slices and Visual Search.
According to Redmond, IE8 is supposed to stop "two to four times more malware attacks than any other browser; cuts down on the time it takes to complete common tasks on the web such as searching, mapping and sharing, including navigating 15 of the 20 top worldwide sites."
Not an issue if you don't use dual monitors.

Been using whichever version of IE8 it is that came with W7 beta and it actually seems as good as Firefox. I haven't found all the secret buttons and tweaks and whatnots, but I have been enjoying it. I have yet to give it a good workout in Vista or XP, but it does blow away IE7 and IE6 (yes, I'm tortured by being forced to use this one at work).
Perhaps it was because it was preinstalled, or the Beta's beta, but the dual monitor issue was a non issue (I hooked up a 2nd just to see after peeping this).
The one gripe I do have is that the "web page compatability mode" is sometimes less compatible than just leaving it alone; and on one website needs to be cycled to get links to work right - turn it on to click a link, but have to turn it off to click the same link next time, then back on... :knuppel2: Probably a Beta Beta issue...
