Title: Filefront axed-sfc3 files maybe next
Post by: Starforce2 on March 24, 2009, 06:41:53 pm
Just to sound the alarm. High level filefornt stuff sacked, site operations deleted.

If you value a backup of anything on sfc3files get it now.

Good to know... the only thing that I could find with my name on it was Nanner's G@W mod, so I downloaded that and the server.

I know I probably have more up there, but the search didn't show anything.  :p

Is it all games and downloading or just the ST stuff, wondering if CBS is planning on putting out a game and trying to get us all to get it by removing all traces for any older games

I have started downloading the tutorials, tools, scripts and other smaller files. My mod is also available for download at battleclinic so I'm not worrying it. (Besides, the next full version is scheduled for May anyway.)

Could any one please backup the Pelican's DW mod? My current connection is too slow to download large mods but I believe his mod is only available at sfc3files.com.

This isn't a war on startrek or a startrek related issue. Filefront is going down. Site operations decommence on the 30th, so I am told. That is everything, userfiles, all gamming sites, anything hosted or affilliated with filesnetwork or filefront, "Site Statistics: Over 1.5 million files totaling 48+ TB of space" will cease to exsist.

Would it be best to organize the retention of the files? Instead of everyone trying to get all of it, brake it up into smaller parts and ask volunteers to download their assignment and upload it to Battle Clinic. Just a thought.

If we're doing that, then we should also check into the current hard drive space at Battleclinic, and if he's going to need more hardware.

does explain why my son was having trouble uploading a game mod to be passed to the mod creator for another game.  They stopped the uploads to close down.

That's also a generic email response...I tried to request access to the lost queue of potd that is still in the system.

Aside from the various pages showcasing the mods and ships and such, and the POTD posts, and even screenshots from ships and mods, I've downloaded every single file off SFC3Files.com

That's every single ship, every single mod, every single utility.

Trust me, took me a while.

If someone wants to go and save the pages themselves, go for it.

FileFront survives . . .

"FileFront has been acquired by the original founders of the site and will NOT be suspended as previously announced. This is NOT an April Fool's Joke."

Suggestion:  try it again now that the new (old, no longer ZD) owners are in place... you might get a response now..

it doesn't matter now, all our access has returned. Seems as if someone deleted some of the picture of the day submissions but there's over 300 left so no biggie. FW should have his access to sfc3 back too. All the sites are staying and so far as I know all of the old staff are back too. Some things are still broken, IE we can't add files, change the picture of the day nor add new polls.

What would we have ever done without our Filefront/Sfc3files/BCFiles/etc...
