Guys,
I have finished a new model that I am trying to convert to .mod for sfcIII, the mesh is super clean, all smoothing groups are assigned.. model is ok. UntilI convert to .mod
I select no when it asks to smooth the entire model, but then when i import it again to look at the .mod or look in the modelviewer it has removed all my smoothing groups and assigned the ship on channel one.. Im sure lots of you know what the issue is here so can i pick ur brains please? max 5.1 model tools r4 i believe ::)

Ok, so this issue is now resloved, been chatting with adonis all night, we could not figure it out, eventually, I decide to export to max 3 instead of 5 and hey.... it did not mess up my mesh...
This clearly needs more study, and any insight is appreciated, as I have now put the model back into v5 max to make the .brk mesh and add hardpoints etc. :)

Nice job! Ship looks beautiful. On the max issue Ive had the same problem when i had 4 , maybe why you don't see many finished trek ships by me is mainly cause of smoothing errors and my textures really don't mix well. The same ships are fine in freelancer and other games but sfc mod just has that 1 issue that i cant or know how to fix. Gmax seems to export to mod better but the ui is so horrable to model with i get a headache looking at non bolien parts all day.

She is done and ingame.
sits at 9000 Polys and uses 1 x 1024 x 1024 bmp for the textures

Really nice looking ship; I also love the "funcomic" page you included in the d/l, it would be great to see more of that, too.
A general question - how well do *.mod files for SFC3 work in SFC2/OP? It's been while since I tried that and don't have SFC3 loaded anywhere right now. I'd love to use the Atraiu as a BC or DN in my fleet.

.MODs from SFC3 will fly in SFC2, but you'll have your primary and secondary weapons pretty well reversed due to HP/DP renumbering in SFC3. So the ship will fly ingame, you just might have shots from the wrong areas of the ship, that's all.
Also, no glows in SFC 2, you'll have illumination textures though..

Yes mate, the HP will; be reversed in SFCII unless someone converts an SFCII version. I have no problem with anyone doing this, but I myself am too busy making a BC version at the minute 8)
