Title: FASA Imperial Klingon States captured Loknar Class (TMP revision) WIP
Post by: Klingon Fanatic on September 05, 2009, 11:01:09 am
;D Here's an OLD unfinished retexture of a kitbash of Lt. Kevin Riley's USS Phobos.

The original model was the second TMP Loknar class vessel ever made or converted to the SFC series; the first belongs to P81 who made his more FASA correct version using TMP parts. He later made a higher poly version that is better armed and has red impulse engines. The latest version available is FoAs' excellent, IMHO, upgraded version.

From the FASA Star Trek Federation ship recognition manual Loknar entry, "The infamous IKVS Staav'eMara (Slave of Justice), was originally the USS Morgan City, a Loknar Class frigate captured by Admiral Kamato's forces during the Four Years War and later used in Kamato's abortive coup attempt on the Klingon throne.  After failing, Kamato retreated into the Triangle, taking the Loknar Class frigate with him.  From their location within the Triangle, the rebels began attacking unprotected convoys and merchant vessels by using the Staav'eMara to lure them in.  This ruse lasted for several years, then a general recall of all Loknar Class vessels made it difficult for the Klingon vessel to operate as though it were from Starfleet.  The IKS Admiralty then decided to have the vessel painted in the standard steel gray color of their navy.  The Staav'eMara still operates with the IKS Navy and has been seen as recently as stardate 2/2301."

Now, with that background I thought, hmmm, SFB didn't they do something similar with the FCA USS Hood at the start of the General War? Yes, that did happen and Atrahasis made his version of the IKV Hood and there was even a kitbash of that TMP Connie adding a D-7 command pod torpedo launcher to the lower saucer of the converted FCA.

So in my corner of TMP era Star Trek multiverse, I figured that it was far more realistic to have a FDD/FCL captured and I started this conversion... I believe that the PHD SFB fansite has Klingon captured and converted starship stats there. I even saw a Federation captured D-7 there that would work for Mackie's USS Ktinga kitbash...

Not to self-plug, but you might want to use my loknar. There are details on the original loknar model that are just textured on - like the impulse engines and the impulse deflection crystals, that I have made into geometry.

I wish I could use your Loknar. However, I have zero modelling or kitbash skills or tools. This retexture is probably a five year old ship WIP I never finished... Life, go figure, LOL.

Perhaps you could whip something up to add to the fine Klingon fleet you are still working on?

Looking good, but Klingon warp engine nacells are 1/3 the length of Federation nacells.  It is as if the Feds use a single coil with a great deal of shielding, and the Klingon stack three together with very little shielding.

True. However, this is an OLD kitbash.

I have one that has a slightly different length of Klingon Warp Engine as well as a simple Federation warp engine retextured in Klingon colors. Neither one of those are mine to take credit for.

In the meantime, this will have to do until either FoAs, Mackie or somebody else can kitbash us a better one.
