Title: Vista/Windows 7 peeps - turn-based game should work for you
Post by: FPF-DieHard on November 01, 2009, 07:14:46 pm
If anyone was put off by this, it looks like you still should be able to play.   What's a deal-breaker for a real D2 is only a minor pain for what we got planned.   Just an FYI.

can you expand on that a little?

We're still in the "bickering" stage.   pretty much would just be an F&E campaign where we used a D2 SQL DB to track everything.

Last night I successfully managed to get and play on D2 with Windows 7.. getting on was a PAIN and moving around can be very fast then slow to a crawl, but yes playing the turn-based campaign is doable with a little patience on Windows7

the actual missions play perfectly, once you get the draft message, then it's like your back on XP for that round.

When this goes live, all the behind the scenes crap will be managed on an SQL db with an OCI on steroids.  Battle resolution just needs to take place on a D2 to record battle damage and supply usage.

Since you won't actually have to move on the map, the Vista/W7 crappiness won't matter.
