Battlestar Galactica is getting the big-screen treatment. Universal Pictures has confirmed what was originally reported on HitFix.com that Bryan Singer, director of Valkyrie, will take on directing and producing duties for a BSG movie. Glen Larson, who created original series back in 1978, will produce as well. The film is not expected to be a continuation of current popular television show that’s running on the SyFy network but will be a complete re-imagining of the sci-fi lore that was invented by Larson back in the 70s.

One would wonder why any of you even bother to question me, but I suppose quantum physics allows for the possibilty that I might make a mistake some day.
Before the Universe ends.

Wait , a remake of a remake? Or is it ignoring the first remake, and going with a normal remake?

And you thought the series was confusing. :D

Apparently he doesn't want to remake the remake, but thinks there might be a market for a remake of the original.  :crazy2:

I'm hoping they finally get to show the Cylons as an insect race inside power armor, as originally intended, rather than as robots.

Either way, consider my ticket purchased as soon as it is available.

Imperious leader looked kind of buggy.  The novelization pointed out to them being a race evolving in a borg like fashion, aside from adding extra organic brains. Imperious leader had 3? after adding another to achieve that title and gaining a greater awareness/state of conciousness.............

The episode with Patrick Macnee as "the devil" strongly implied the he was the original pattern for the Imperious Leader and when they showed his "true" appearance it was reptilian (as I recall).

It takes more than just the ANNOUNCEMENT of a remake to spur the hatred here.  Once we know some facts about it, we'll decide whether to love it or hate it.

OH, it didn't take much more then just the anouncement of the STXI for hatred to come out.  Guess BSG is far anough away from that, that it will take some more.  I am up for a new remake.  Because it has all happened before, it will happen again.  (but doesn't mean it has to happen exactly the same way with people who look the same)  So I am game.

So long as it doesn't end with the rag-tag fleet finding earth then sending their ships into the sun I'm game  ::)

Kinda hard for them to make a Galactica tie in movie or TOS era movie when they don't know how th new Caprica series is going to go in January and what historical data they bring into light which could break the continuity.

I think remaking Larson's BSG is an awesome idea. I have both series on DVD the old and the new and love them both. I just hope that they hit the characters correctly if based on Larson's BSG also Larson's Ship Design is a MUST but maybe image sharper / CGI enhanced. I like its design better than the new BSG. Maybe borrow the idea of retractable landing bays from the new BSG since they are Huge targets from the ends for fighters to hit.

Looking forward to the BSG movie now.

Will I buy a ticket to see this at a movie theater? No.
Depending on the reviews on this board, I might rent a DVD.

The new BSG was so far superior to the old Big Joe Cartwright wearing his nighties in a robe that I find it hard to believe Glen Larson can improve on the most intense show I've ever seen, besides the first few seasons of 24, of course.

Maybe they can get Jack Bauer to play Starbuck.

I have been watching the original series on HULU late at night.

Somewhere in the first ten episodes, Apollo reveals that "the cylons were reptilian, but coveted the form of primates, and thus constructed the Cylons in a more human configuration.  Now all that remains are the robots, and no more original cylon reptiles survive".

Season 1, Episode 1: Saga of a Star World

Apollo explains the origin of the war to Boxey and explicitly states that the original Cylons were reptiles.
