Title: Hal-Con 2010

HAL-CON (http://www.hal-con.com/)

Seems to have gone over well this year:

Too much WoW talk though. I might go over and pay my $30 to get a peek at Denise Crosby (*sproing*). ;)

Actually, I want to go look at that 2010 ship model that guy made too.

I would love to have a Dynaverse table there sometime. Like when we have a product ready... Next Halloween would be a good deadline.

We are an excellent fit for Hal-Con. See, there used to be an SFB tournament there annually... no more. But I bet the same guys would show up for an SFC tourney, on bigscreen displays on high powered rigs with big sound and community models to show off for passers by. I know it will grab attention. The way we play is like no other game...  I bet the old UAW mod as it is presented in person kiosk style would certainly draw new players... I can just see the kids and their dads gawking at it on the big screen.

It would be good to have a copy of SFB on the go too, for historical context and depth of presentation. Not a lot of games have this kind of history.

edit: project1 - a kiosk display mission script... endless ai ships regenerate cycling through fleets to display all the ships in battle. Need something like that running unattended out front in addition to the tourney and demo systems. (I wonder is there script access to the camera position?)

- a modeling system setup would be good too. have someone like WZ building an Atolm design in person... a bit like watching paint dry, but people will be interested. - hmmm, no, maybe modeling tutorials... a la FoaS... See, we can attract artists and creative types too.

Oh we have got to get it together man. The opportunity is now.

Aye, we really do need to get the project out there if we really are serious on proceeding forward on it.  We have core members sure, but we need an influx of new blood to make all of what we want done happen.

Agree too. Would be a good way to drum up new players. But I see XC as to sporadic.

The closest to a convention I have got in years was watching Blizzcon 2010 on PPV.

That being said, a huge get together with the peeps here would come the closest to getting me to leave my home, than anything.

I could set up a table, with like a tractor seat, in a grass skirt, and give a misanthropic view on how Star Trek , and ST games will allow people of all kinds to have some fun.

We could make a ninja trip to Taldrens old offices, and steal dirt, and bottle it up as a souvenir.  "Come one Come all, eat the same magic Dirt that caused Bethke to fly half way around the world out of the clear blue"

I mean the ideas are limitless.

Stephan, the only way you would attend a convention would be if it was held at your place...and I can see the sign at the entrance...

Does a plastic phaser count?  ;D (and I'm near deadly with a beer cap flick too!)

I tried to find a pic of one of those old plastic phaser guns to explain. I just had this flashback to when I was four in the mall parking lot in the summer sun and had a brand new one - super cheap from the grocery store, it fired those neon plastic discs shaped kinda like a stylised yin-yang... does anybody know what I'm talking about? A google of plastic phaser toy turns up so much new stuff I'll never find it...  :'(
