Finally.
It's all coming together. The Dream Team is preparing to wow you all with some important information.
I'm going to let this out of the bag : I've just finished negotiating a deal which will keep the Empire out of our ha...
Oh wait, sorry.
*cough*
We're moving to (http://xenocorp.net/images/PNG/verizon_fios_logo.bmp).
You know what this means, True Believers... no more FTP bandwidth cap, no more caps period.
35 Mb / 35 Mb.
Look for the change on Dec 10th, the site will be down temporarily as we move to the new IP scope that day.
:D

and this means what exactly?....
-
Better connection speed to the Dynaverse OP servers, the web server. More reliable connection to the various servers, etc etc etc.
-
um...ok?
what server's?....there is nothing in the server tabs at the home page...
and I thought you said yesterday that no one really plays on dynaverse anymore? Lord knows I need to find a place to play other than GSA...
and thank you for the game.. :smitten:
I could play this 24/7 if I had players...
-
The server that hosts this website?
okay, bit confusing: Dynaverse.net and "The Dynaverse" are two different things. I meant that a lot of people with whome I played TCP/IP games with are off doing other games, and haven't been playing OP as much. Now on "The Dynaverse" server called "The Forge" there are still a few players (maybe more, I never play on the forge).
-
Your shortest and simplest answer is it lifts a huge limiting bar we've had to juggle with for a while.

Oh...The Forge....ok..srry, I was going to (http://www.dynaverse.net/ (http://www.dynaverse.net/)) and kept clicking on the server information tab, then EAW, OP, SFC3 tab's..
I'm soooo stupid....no wonder I can't find anyone..:)
do I google "the forge"?
-
don't google. Start up SFC:OP then go multiplayer. Then Dynaverse. It will give a listing of servers (after you log on). The forge is there, along with strays tavern and maybe others but those are the two main ones.

I can see why just for 1 the immages this site hosts for free is insain and noone looks at the issue of cost.

That's not what I'm saying. I love it that everyone posts images, as long as they are not hotlinking.
I've been hosting community websites (I hosted Battleclinic originally ;) ) and providing services for our community for over 10 years now.
:)

Define Hotlinking so everyone knows please ?
-
its the use of a linked object (mostly an image) from one site into a web page belonging to a second site

AND it's done.
We're now officially on the Fibre backbone, and it's looking good. We should have mail flow back in about 12 hours as we wait for the reverse zone for freyja to be created.
:D

Here's a quick look at our speeds now:
-~~=====================---------------------------------------------------==========================~~-
Upload speed is what I'm concerned about, and previously...
we were running 1.5 Mbps.
So you can see the increase.

Thanks for your efforts Frey. I've donated to D.net before and promise to help out some more once I get my hospital and medical bills paid down a bit more. Looking forward to what's next... EAW+ I hope !

I am most curious as to how you made that post Capt Jeff as DNS was bejiggered (like that word?) since the switch and I just fixed it now. (Frey could post as it was resolving inside, but not outside... thus he did not see anything wrong... except for empty forums... but 4 am is the ebb anyway...)
Anyway we're back now. Next is what you expect (I will not say it outright yet), but first a hardware upgrade. (waiting on a SCSI3 adapter)
The funny part for me is that I'm back on dial-up now and don't see much difference at all. But I know it will work better and allow for huge checkouts etc...
P.S. it would be useful to me for people to confirm services or report broken ones... (SFC2, SFC3 directory servers, IRC, ftp, teamspeak, the forge...)

Not sure what you mean. Everything worked fine when I posted. From home on Earthlink DSL, using IE 8.
-
I guess I already had it fixed when you posted then. (our posts are only an hour apart) I was going over a lot of stuff this morning and on dial-up. Thanks for the reply, I was curious if you did anything special, I guess your DNS servers picked up the change before mine...
