Since Frey/Bonk/everyone has been doing improvements and updates to a lot of stuff around here, http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163391013.0.html (http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163391013.0.html) we thought it was past time to give the forums a update. The phpbb version being used was way, way, waaaaaay old and it appears we lost some the more recent posts. I figured it's better to lose a few now, then try to update in the future and probably lose even more. All the historical posts from the "good ole days" and beyond are still there for your enjoyment and reminiscing. We just lost some from the past year or so...
With new possibiliteis coming up for EAW, I'm looking forward to SFC2.NET being a vital part of the Starfleet Command experience !!
Thanks to SCM_SFHQ_XC for all his work taking care of this for me !

Looks...brighter...lol.
Lost more than a couple posts from the KBF forums, nothing important however.
Mostly the threads discussing STO...no great loss there.
It now says the most recent post in the KBF forums is from 2008...
Nice job. ;)
-
Whoa! That looks way different. Of note, the FPF forums lost everything back to May 2006. :o
-
I know, I'm bummed we lost the posts we did, but I think the longer we waited to update, the more we could lose. Bite the bullet now and get it over with kind of thing....
Anyone need any permissions changed, let me know.
-
Looks good Jeff maybe a little better than D.Net it self. The Fed forum didn't lose the shiplists which is the most important.
-
Nothing was really lost lost, the posts are still there in the database but toxic topics in the table kept them from forming right, if there is a critical post missing I can manually recover it, on first conversion it killed about 1K posts, I managed to wiggle it down to about ~500 or so, Trouble was sfc2net forums were neglected quite a bit, its hard to give it a good conversion when so much of it is toxic and hadnt been cleaned in forever, and the converter can only handel so much toxic stuff before it goes nuts...
but if you do notice a critical post missing let me know and Ill manually rebuild that post and get it recovered, It just too long of a process to do for all ~500 posts
Thankfully phpbb3 is far easier to maintain so we should be ok so long as it is not neglected for years and years and years.

Hmm, I like the new design sans one thing: Your background image has some pretty obvious photoshopping done to it.

My umpteenth dumb question for the day....
what is SFC2.Net for?
-
SFC2.NET was created in 2002 by BB Jones and Skull n Bonez who were the admins of a lot of the major EAW and later OP Dynaverse II campaigns.
It hosts private race and fleet forums for people who played during those campaigns and still wish to do so today even though D2 has slowed down in recent years.
SFC2.Net is now hosted by Frey under his umbrella of SFC web services (D.Net, directory services, etc...) and has been a few years now.
Thanks again to SCM_SFHQ_XC for all his work giving SFC2.Net it's long overdue tune-up !

It would seem to me it was made up before 2002 as that is when I entered the scene and registered on it or it could be 03.
-
Nice but ,Where is the new post button in the ISC Forum?

The forum was created Friday, October 25th, 2002. ;)

Nice but ,Where is the new post button in the ISC Forum?
If you look towards the upper left corner, under the forum name (Interstellar Concordium in your case), there is a "NEW POST" button.

Fried, with melted butter and a bit of garlic. They don't taste like chicken. They're better... :drink:
-
Definitely, with garlic. Poached is nice too... kinda like "little chickens"! ;D

*cough*
You seem to have forgotten me :P
It was originally called Canada West I believe.. and then we 3 went onto create SFC2.Net in collaberation with Taldren. The SFC2.Net website and logo was created by myself and my silent partner (who to this very day despises the work involved in creating the shipyards on the website lol).
I still remember we had some of the best flame wars back in the days.. magic photons.. *sigh*.
And.. wtf.. I am STILL Screenshot of the sodding week?
-
Tantalus, in your honor, I think you will always be the screenshot of week !!!
I do apologize for omitting your name for the work you did on the site and forums. I think sfc2.net has always been named just that. When BBJ and company were doing the Canada West servers, we used StarfleetComms as the forums. SFC2.Net did not come along until they had ceased operations. I remember quite a few "heated" conversations in the RM forums back then !! A lot of it because people couldn't stand the hoards of newbie Feds that would log in not knowing what in the world to do! Those were the days...lol
-
Heh yeah.. heated for sure! Looking back it all seemed so silly now.
I joined BBJones and SnB shortly after ArcticFires stopped running his Campaigns :)
You know... I really miss those days!
-
Hm, when going to sfc2net today, I get redirected to some real estate site...?!
