Cool! If this works for CE, I think the delay moving from hex to hex may be less.

Are you actually able to move on the strategic map on Windows 7?

EDIT:   yes you were, was this OP?

Were you virtualizing anything?

Ahhh . . . server and client running on the same PC.

I'll see if I can test this out, in the past with windows later than XP you can connect to a Dyna but you're unable to move.

Got past the logins, don't see your server though.  It up?

I'm past the "Gamespy" login, I just don't see any servers in the server list.

Yest, I DL'd everything that was in your instructions.

You really need NOT be on the same public IP as the server.

I've hosted a zillion campaigns back in the day, when you're on the same network you'll connect via local IPs.   To see if it's broadcasting it's presence you need to be on a different IP from the server.

Guys - get with me and let's see if I can't spin up a server on a public IP for you to test with.

d4v1ks, just make an OP 2.6 patch already!!

And, jeez, Frey, can't we promote d4v1ks past "Lt. Junior Grade"?  I mean, it's like he's Wesley Crusher, Junior Boy Wonder.

This is incredibly interesting news.

Need to find my OP disk, get the HD patch as well, been some time since I warmed up plasma.

As you can see in the image, we successfully moved to the same hex. d4v1ks got a drafting message when I selected a mission. There are details to work out, of course.

Well done d4v1ks!  After the breakthrough last year discovering Qtracker solves the GameSpy login issue, I have been meaning to do the same for SFC3 (hexedit the server and client binaries) to simplify setup for multiplayer dynaverse3 play.  I admit having to mess with numerous steps like primary DNS and hosts file edits is cumbersome.

This is exactly what I had hoped for... the clever diehards would take it and run to make things even more seamless and adapt it to other SFC games.

Hi d4v1ks - Your recent efforts with SFCOP prompted me to simplify the SFC3 solution as well (thanks for the motivation!).  I've updated my post (http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163394297.0.html (http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163394297.0.html)) in the Dynaverse 3 Forum on the simplified method.  I also added some notes for anyone wanting to use the server kit and how to get that working via Qtracker's GameSpy emulation.
