Urk.  I am currently a very unhappy Herr Burt.

I made my new map.  I thought it looked great.  There is only one problem:  The Romulans *insist* on having a Fed ally whenever they attack the Feds, and *insist* on having a Gorn ally whenever they attack the Gorn.  It doesn't matter where on the border they attack them.  I've been running through the missions all day, hoping the problem would be limited to missions I could pull, but the &#@!! error appears to be everywhere.

(Note to missions scriptors:  Is it possible to write missions where you NEVER generate an "allied" AI player?  What the hell are Gorn allies doing helping the Feds down near Tholia before Operation Nutcracker, anyway?  This same thing bit me for a while on 4Power and made it impossible for the Mirak to attack the Lyrans until I worked a solution.)

I can't put the download stuff up yet, because the materials that would be within it might be changing.  I've got a few more things to try (Just had the magic thought that maybe a ton of ISC bases allied to the Roms might help)  If you are going to be up late tonight, you might want to check back here periodically to see if I've got the problem fixed.  If you plan to retire early then maybe you should just check here in the morning.

I said I would start it on Friday, so I've still got until midnight before I have to eat dirt, right?

Yes, its easy to create the mission script without using 'allies', just same race  ships will work.

I appreciate you doing this and trying to get a good EAW game up (and it does look good!).  Oh, as for the dirt thing .... well ... yeah, but I'm sure there is nothing but clean dirt in the Carolinas.

HB -  I can recompile the ED scripts for you with no drafting of other races as allies (i.e. feds draft feds as alliies, gorn draft gorn), it would take a couple of hours to get all 40ish recompiled, but you would probably still be good to go late tonight (if the wife doesn't kill me first )

Dave, if it speeds things up a bit, you can send me say half the scripts to compile simulatenously.
