Once again, the same situation I've had in 2.5.2.5 with fighters has reoccured in 2.5.3.8.
So far only tested with ISC, will test with other races later (once son's asleep and not on top of me...)
Skirmish: Pick CVA, Go to shipyard, fighter button not available
Campaign: Buy CVA, Go to shipyard, buy fighters, but no fighters in mission at all. Not on shuttle panel, nowhere. Forfeit mission, go to shipyard, fighters gone, re-buy them, go to mission, gone again.
System Specs:
Intel 900mhz
128mb RAM
Windows ME
Intel i810e grapics card sharing RAM off system memory
20gb hard drive with 4 gb free
Install: Fresh install after completly deleting the Taldren Software Co.. Directory in Program Files, patched by 2500->2538 patch.
Mods installed: Firesoul's EAW Campaigns & Sulu bonus missions set. I have not touched the shiplist or model folders yet. Added VollyInfo & FPS lines to SFC.INI file.
And this same system runs EAW carriers perfectly fine. No fighter issues at all.
Any ideas? The only things keeping me from OP are the fighter issue & D2 things...
Oh, the DVs are behaving much better now, but a patrol against a freighter did not flip a neutral hex to my race. Next patrol with an actual warship did get me the hex...

Sounds like the old supply bug is still there.

Did you bypass the intro with a shortcut to game launching .exe?

Put it back to the normal launch .exe. I don't know why, but when you bypass the intro it screws up the fighter selection.

Bizarre but true it seems. And I just told somebody to skip the movies to get the campaign working. This may explain why the Feds don't have any fighters in my ISC Vs Rom game. Could be a bit silly if some people have video problems requiring them to skip the intro, only to not have fighters.
I don't understand this by the way.

The problem with bypassing the intro is you MUST specify the target directory in the EXE's shortcut properties.
No Target Directory, no fighters.

Someone PLEASE create an FAQ..

See! I knew somebody would know. Now why is it that you get PF's but no fighters? I'm guessing that the .exe knows the way to the shiplist file, but guesses the way to the ftrlist.

Great info!!

This is exactly correct. Make sure you have the correct "Start In" path in
your shortcut otherwise the game cannot find the spec file.
Thanks,
Dave

Corbomite:
Using the intro version did work for me. Happily flying carriers again...
And I'll try the introless but properly target-directoried shortcut. I normally make sure that their in there (usually copy the one from the install and just modify the .exe name) but may have forgotten the past couple of installs.
Usually, when the target directory is an issue, the game itself tends not to work. That's the only reason I haven't considered that as a problem. Nice to learn something new every day... Thanks for the responses gang...

If anyone does, SFU will gladly post it.
Or if there are enough "questions" I can even write one myself... (but I can't think of more than 3 questions, and that makes a sad FAQ.)
