Title: SFC OP Fighters Using Ship style Heavy Weapons - Stats
Post by: Kid Carrson on January 24, 2003, 08:03:01 pm
To the Group:

I recently modified the Federation fighters in my SFC OP mod so that they fire Standard Ship style Photon Torpedoes (not the Fighter style Photons).  They work fine, but I was wondering, has anyone studiied the damage results of fighters firing ship style heavy weapons?  If so, can you share that info with the group?

I'm wondering whether the AI will fire those Photons in Overload or proximity mode or always in regular mode.  Any thoughts among the SFC OP modders out there?  Hummm?

Very Good Question. And a great Idea.

Im gonna try that. I'll keep you posted on the AI results.

I wonder something though. Would they still need relaods?

EAW Fighters do not fire ship-based Photons in proxy mode. They always do 8 points if they hit.  I assume it is the same in OP.

A couple of other ship weapons that I like on fighters are, fusions (Allows the fighters to fire before they get wiped out by the point defenses) and, C-racks (2 drones per turn )

Thanks guys.  This kind of information is very helpful.

Finding a nice balance for tough fighters isn't easy, but it sure is worth some experimentation.
