Does anyone know how to make custom messages appear in the News?

What? Things like "Kroma's received a new tutu"? Or "Scipio's scotch shipment has been intercepted by the Kilingon Empire"?

Yes...exactly.  

 Or something else, event-driven for example, such as "The Romulans have begun construction of a starbase in sector 21,13."

SQL, SQL, SQL.  Once we got SQL working for a complete LB3-like dyna campagin  then we can think about playing with the News table.
