Would there be any chance you could set it up so we could just upload our avatar from our own machine instead of having to find a site to host the pic? I've seen other forums with this feature and it sure is easier to deal with all around.
Thanks.

i copy and pasted my avatar from my machine.
-
Really? How?

and your avatar is showing up as a blank box with a red X in it when your off line... and most probably when your online as well since you logged off.

go to my home look at the edits at the bottom of the page go to personal information. Somewhere near the bottom copy paste.

D'ball, you might want to clear your cache and check again. I'm not seeing anything but a missing graphic on your avatar. I don't think that will work.
-
i see it,hmm wonder what is wrong.
-
Well since I can't see it either it must only be showing to you. That beggars a good question though - on those other forums does the avatar disappear when I log off or does their server make a copy for all to see? If it is the former, I can see why they don't use it here as it is worthless to anyone but the user. hmmm.

It's probably because you have access to your local drive and the rest of the world doesn't.
Thanks,
Dave

So is that a yes or a no? Now I'm really confused.
-
Do you have a little space with you internet package?Thats what I use for smaller avatars I use.
-
You know, I probably do, but to be honest I wouldn't know the first thing about finding it. I suppose I should call my ISP and find out.
-
your are right only i can see because it is on my computer,so i've changed it

No. This forum doesn't seem to be copying avatars, they are kept as links to the outside.
what dave meant is you can type "file:///C|/picture/avatar.gif" which refers to a local file and is viewable to the user only.
-
Where is a good site to get avatars? Also a good site to upload them to?

Here are some sites with alot of avatars:
http://www.wn.com.au/clubclad/erebus/avatars.htm
http://kongming.net/avatars.html
http://swg.stratics.com/content/tools/avatars/
http://www.gamespy.com/avatars/
http://www.freeavatars.net/
I got my avatar from the last site.

Also, Paramount's Star Trek site has alot of good images that could be used as avatars.
