Title: for the old vet moddel makers a question
Post by: Rivaris on April 09, 2004, 06:32:22 pm
hope you guys can help me out here

i got a ship i want to remoddle the hardpoints on it.
i take my little program to do the basic for replacing the points for ingame and refit screen.

now the question

how do make the phaser or torp fire from that place in game.
nice you move the hard point pic at least in game but it still fires in the center off the ship..

so i hope you guys can tell me how its done.
i think you it has something to do with max 5 and placing the hardpoint in that spot but i dont know how to do that.

You have to place Dummy objects in MAX, one for each HP, and name them this way:

Primaries: Hardpoint1 to 11
Heavies: Hardpoint12 to 25

So if you have a dummy called Hardpoint1 in the mesh, then the first primary weapon in the specs files will fire from that place.

Hope this helps,

Mariano

Edited: Ups, this is for SFC3. Which SFC do you want to know about???? I souldīve asked first

The Hard point is tied in two places to the UI for the game and to the HPs on the model.

on the model you will have points called Hardpoint1, hardpoint2, etc. these are the actual physical points the weapons when set to them fire from. Hardpoints1-9 are heavy weapons and 10-19 are phaser there is a 21-24 area but they can only be used by certain ships based on coding in the game for that UI.

So...

if the model doesn't physically have that HP on it then they fire from the center of the ship. Also if the UI doesn't support that HP then you can not select it in game it will not show up, for SFC1,2 and OP. Hardpoints can only be done in the modelling program milkshape, and Max. Most programs have this area for placing them/moving them in the Skeleton section of a model.
