Title: SFC2 Directory Server mini-patcher for D2
Post by: FireSoul on September 13, 2004, 03:06:51 pm
Frey has released the installer I made for him for the Dynaverse Directory Server updater for SFC:EAW and SFC:OP.

http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163346472.msg1122444511.html#msg1122444511

Installer: http://www.dynaverse.net/v2/downloads.php?id=56&game=SFC2%20OP#download

Think of it as a mini-patch to fix the Directory Server issues we've had in recent months/weeks. Also, I recommend you use it despite the fact that it's working anyways. It's using DNS entries instead of IP address so if a directory server's IP change, you don't have to worry about it much:

A single change on the DNS side of things and it'll work again.

PS: Sticky me? This should replace the "very important" D2 thread.

Yes, it is pretty!

(Would you mind posting the branding image code in the scripting forum if you get a chance? I figured out splash images but couldn't get branding images worked out yet...)

The installer, I am sure, works great.  But since it doesn't give you the option on where to install it to, it doesn't seem to work if you have multiple verions of the game on your computer.

Can the WON info be posted here in this thread also so we have a stickied source to grab it?

It doesn't ask? *checks*
Right, it doesn't ask because it does *both* games: SFC:EAW and SFC:OP.

Well, err..
.. if the dual-copies is OP, you can try that mini-updater (as posted in the general forum) that I wrote. That one's just for OP so it does ask for the path, and since I actually wrote the other one before this patcher.. it has the right code as well.
Just note that this one's the official patcher, for OP *and* EAW while the other one's something I do for OP only.

Thanks, I should have worded my question "...if you have multiple copies of the game...".  I normally keep 3 copies of SFC:OP on my computer.  1 for whatever D2 I'm playing, 1 for GSA play, and 1 for testing (since tests usually don't have install/unistallers, so it makes it much easier).

Well, that might solve one of my problems - a new patch and multiple installations.  How did you accomplish this?  Copy the original directory or a complete and new installation?
