Then I probably should not post this link (http://www.techworld.com/opsys/news/index.cfm?NewsID=2275) but I will anyway. :)
A major breakdown in Southern California's air traffic control system last week was partly due to a "design anomaly" in the way Microsoft Windows servers were integrated into the system, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
The radio system shutdown, which lasted more than three hours, left 800 planes in the air without contact to air traffic control, and led to at least five cases where planes came too close to one another, according to comments by the Federal Aviation Administration reported in the LA Times and The New York Times. Air traffic controllers were reduced to using personal mobile phones to pass on warnings to controllers at other facilities, and watched close calls without being able to alert pilots, according to the LA Times report.
The failure was ultimately down to a combination of human error and a design glitch in the Windows servers brought in over the past three years to replace the radio system's original Unix servers, according to the FAA.
You only have to worry every 49.7 days. What are the odds it will happen to you?

 I gotta laugh at that one. I missed that by a couple of days and then there were still schedule problems for several passengers the day after that incedent. I had to call ahead just to make sure my flight was still a go from San Diego to Hawaii. Alien wouldv'e benn pissed :2gun: if that happend. Good thing it didn't. :rwoot:
Well Sirgod and the Mrsgoddesss made it here safe and sound. I promised that he would get some computer time to update you guys on wht's going on. Paintball tomorrow so, I gotta get some rest.
Drinks are on the house in the bar.. :drink:

I'm glad to know that none of us were directly involved. I hope they resolve the problem before it recurs and someone is hurt.
I hope that you, alien, SirGod and his wife have a great time. Paint SirGod once for me. ;)

That's an awfully big bar otherwise... :P

You have a problem with big bars?! ;)
So in a few hours or so we will be kidnapping SirGod and LadyGoddess from their cozy Waikiki hotel room and I will be dropping off the big kids (Steve, Steve and Justin) while Denise, Robert and I go and see a lovely Japanese garden tucked way back in a picturesque valley wherein we will proceed to feed hungry Koi and Talapia fish. Ahhh relaxation!
;D
-
Well, whilst there be sure to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center (I think that's what it's called) and then there's a bird place of some sort (can't recall the exact name, but you can feed all these birds there by hand). Also be sure to visit the blowhole (it's not nasty for you dirty minded people), and see some volcanoes!

Hawaiis state bird is the Nene. hehehe

Hey all, So far It's been Fun, went and played a Few Rounds of Paintball, Got tagged on the first game, the seconds I was pulling ahead, untill I ran out of Co2. Not even my Hot Air couls help launch anymore.
It's been a Blast here so far, and I've discovered a state Even More Humid then OK, or TX.

Well so far so good!
Ferret and I dropped off the kids at my dad's and then we picked up sirgod and ladygoddess up to go shopping. My feet hurt! OK doesn't help that I've been ingnoring my DR's advise about staying off my feet! :P We took em to Hilo Hatties for Aloha wear and other kitchie stuff then we headed on over to the largest Navy Exchange in the US and got more stuff like chocolate covered macadamias, kona coffee and silk flower leis. Then we did a mini-tour of the southern area of the island and yes we watched the blowhole spout off a few times and got some pretty good pictures.
Ahh it was nice to get out and really talk without the kids around! Didn't have to hold back on the stories anymore! LOL It's spooky really in how much Steve and Steve are alike! As kids they both liked explosives (M60 and M80!) and getting into and out of trubble. I am soooooo surprised that both of them have made it this far in life with out killing themselves . . .
Today Ferret is working so it's up to the kids and I to keep our kidnappees happy! We are going to go and see the Might Mo (the battleship that Cher did that video on and where Japan also surrendered in WWII), the Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor and then Steve's work. When Ferret gets off of work we will be going back to Waikiki to go to a Luau! MMMMMMMmmmmm Gonna get some gooooood food!
Anyway gotta go now and take Ferret off to work!
Stay safe! ;D

I'm so happy that you r finally relaxing Steve, after dealing with me and your wife's cancer and other things, you deserve a really nice vacation.
Regarding the loan, please send to Shadow or Big B when you get back, I really do not need the money and you know one of my dreams was to have a community fund for our friends in need.
Sorry my state was so humid, hehehehehe. We have the Colorado river in Austin, then the Gulf Coast, so yeah, it can get humid, but not like FL!
I hope our friends in FL r ok. I can't imagine 4 hurricanes in six weeks, and the season is not finished until sometime in Nov.
I'll be moving back to Austin in a few weeks or so, Mexico is nice but I think it wiser I'm near the Central TX VA facilities.
Again, enjoy, and we shall see each other again soon.

I swear dropping them off at the airport was really hard to do. I felt like I was saying aloha to favorite family members! OK I admit I really did have tears in my eyes when we all said our good byes. They were the best kidnappees I have ever had! I didn't want to let them go! :'(
I just wish that we could have done all the stuff we kinda had planned but Sirgod is swearing up and down that they'll be back! YAY! ;D
I'm gonna let Sirgod tell ya'll how it went and Ferret and I will add our comments here and there. ;)

Let me know when you want to get together for a Crimson Skies Pc game.

Hey Sirgod I was kidding when I said that you could name the puppies after us! But if you were serious about Hawaiian names I have a Hawaiian names/English names book. Like Stephen is Po'okela (PO o keLA) means champion. Denise is Hiwahiwa (HE wa HE wa) means festive also precious and beloved.
Oh and thanks for dancing the Hula with Justin and I! I hope those pictures of Ferret up on stage come out good! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ;D
