Title: some more models I 'bashed.. TMP tug, another FDNL..
Post by: FireSoul on October 01, 2004, 05:21:34 pm
As always, I try to share my work with others, especially if the intention is to use within my mod. Here's what I've got this time.

1- TMP Federation Fleet Tug:
Remember this?

Well, .. I decided to replace it. I need to thank some folks first. (same data in readmes)
P81, for the original FCA stuff
LordSchtupp for connector, which I adapted to TMP. Oh, and the pods of course!
Mackie for his CVA pod, which I used and made a smaller CVL pod.

Fleet tug, 0 pods,

Fleet Light Tactical Transport Carrier (F-LTV):
I made a F-LTT (Light Tactical Transport) quite some time ago, but added another variant with the CVL pod.

Federation Light Dreadnought (F-DNL):
Someone asked me to redo this ship. For that task, I adapted a previous DNL's saucer to LordSchtupp's rear hull and many gizmos, and made some texture adjustments. All in all, not bad.

And that's what I have for now,...
.. have a good weekend folks.

as always, your ships are grand

Might i suggest something though?
Why not use the Surya as the saucer, the one that Lord Schtupp made

For which, the DNL? This DNL is based on the SFB SSD and model..

Yeah, i meant the DNL.

i dunno, something doesnt quite look right with it. I thought the Surya saucer would help, but i understand a need for loyalty to SFB.

It's one of the more stupid design SFB has come up with over the years, I mean how does making the saucer sllightly more aerodynamic actually help anyone? Why didn't they just use the standard saucer and cut down the armament, the armament is the only significatn external change apart from the shovel-saucer. Same with the fast cruiser, the saucer may be all curvy now, but the entire ship is still very un-aerodynamic, not that that matters in space.

Very cool!

I esp like the Fleet Heavy Carrier Tug (F-CVTC): which I recently saw at the SFB boards.

Nice I like the tugs and the FDNL is sweet, I am going to pair it with the other one I have!

well, I like seraph's  DN concept better, however, I have a suggestion for both and that is to see if you can add pilot features to the ships. Grated nacelles and spears off the bussards would compliment the  pointy bows imho. As for the tmp designs, I think the fact that they look like tos/tmp hack jobs total ruins them. TOS and TMP looks on the same ships don't work, and get rid of that silly deflector dish. The designs are perfectly  good just try to make them look like they are supposed to be part of the same ship.

Harsh. I was very careful and delibarate in what I was doing. Oh well, I don't plan to revisit these models based on a little bit of criticism, so.. I invite you to try out your ideas?

Gentlemen
A suggestion for deflectors on tmp Tug you might want to consider a Wade Style deflector those are the deflectors that are 2 strips
on the leading edge of the saucer. Another thought would be a small eliptical deflector placed either on the leading edge or lower
on the primary hull. Good Luck.

Thanks Firesoul. The thing with your kitbashes are they are so useful and have good attention to detail. Meaning LOD's, superior break models and the reduced textures. Needless to say that they play better than most of the originals. You deserve a bit of thanks for your contributions guy so I felt inclined to type something to that purpose.

Marauth: The whole thing about the change in geometry for the saucer isn't for aerodynamics. The reason given is to allow for an enhanced warp field. I take it you dislike the aesthetics of the change? I find that if there is a reason for something that it helps with the illusion. Does that make the look any less stupid in your eyes? Maybe not. It had to be that way in keeping with SFB. Which has been Firesoul's measuring stick since he launched the OP+ project. Sometimes I choose a paticular model to be SFB accurate and sometimes not. That's whats so fun about making your own personal version of the game.

Really good models.

I am not a fan of these TMP tugs, but I really dig the pods.
I like seeing the Fed Heavy Carrier Tug.
Now if only we could attach these pods to Lord Schupp tugs :)

Also, good work on the DNL and DNLM => I personally not fond of these ships, as well as the CF, but I do admire your work on these models.

Any thoughts on an updated Old CL?

BTW: Atra has re-released a Bon Homme Richard with new LOD's.
