I made a mini-patch for SFC:OP to fix/bypass a few basic problems..
Download site: http://klingon.stasis.ca/SFCOP_mini_updater/

Enjoy. I hope this helps a few of you. Know that this stuff will be built-in with OP+, except for the ESG soundloop which I will leave up to your own discretion.

Oh! If anyone know of other little inofensive fixes needed, let me know.,

Thank you Firesoul!
Well done.

Another Firesoul goodie!
Thanks so much!
-
Sweet! thanks FS, top stuff.
-
Thanks Firesoul...before I use it I had some questions...
Will this little beauty update a clean install completely or does it have to be from the last patch?
Could it do an update from one of the other patches of OP?
Thanks again for your work still though!

I expect it to work fully on a previous patch version.
HOWEVER, if you *DO* patch, it will most likely undo the changes applied and you'll have to run it again.

Thanks!

Would it be hard to handle the no-fighter problem? (if the excutable's "start in" dir is wrong)

*thinks*
I dunno. I could recreate the shortcut within the startmenu, I suppose. I'd have to see if I can supply the working directory for the shortcut. Personal desktop shortcuts are something else and just that: personal. It's something to look at, for sure.
-
Ok. I've updated the mini-updater to recreate the SFC:OP startmenu icon with a shortcut that has the correct Start-In path set pointing to StarFleetOP.exe instead of SFCOP.exe.
.. can someone give this a try on their system and tell me how well it works for them?

OK stupid question time, I play SFC3 rather than OP, does this mini patch remove the need to change the access servers IP? Again sorry for the stupid question.

1- it does it for you. It's not the first tool to do so, either. See :
http://www.dynaverse.net/v2/downloads.php?id=56&game=SFC2%20OP#download
2- This mini-patch is for SFC-OP only. There is no tool for SFC3 that I am aware of. Sorry?
-
Firesoul your a gent thank you, might start to play OP a bit more.

Can I confirm an installation order, I'm guessing at OP 2.5.5.2 then mini installer

Definitely. I'm guessing patching after the mini-updater would undo some of the fixes... so patch first, then this tool.

Thanks FS

Green: did it do what you needed it to do?

Great utility, FS. As usual, yet ANOTHER FireSoul file that has essentially become the nonstandard standard. :)
Good work!
Thanks (and yes, it seems to be doing what it's supposed to do, but I had already changed out my desktop icon to the appropriate link to StarFleetOP.exe before running the miniupdater, so I can't confirm that THAT step is being executed properly).

what is the stuff for? ???

Thanks once again. You are just too kind, and once again have my gratitude. :)

Does anyone know where I can download this? The link in FireSoul's sig isn't working.
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: oh wait, I think that's just the directory server update, all the fixes in the Mini-updater for SFC:OP are in OP+ anyway (including the directory server update).
-
Directory Server update is not in OP+
The other fixes are though

Yes it is:

OK.. You may want to check the output on the Directory server file fix.. IIRC it broke a few games.
I know that with the OP Enhancement Package, I had to include the Directory Service Fix after all the installer files because people could not connect.
OP + is about 3/4 the way through the install process.. the only thing that installs after it is the Centauri Vaughn scripts and the Mod Chooser, neither of which effects the WonSeverSetup.gf file at all.. In OPEP v4.5 I had to start including the Directory Server Fix as a separate file because OP+ was messing up the directory server fix.. but then again that was before we removed the Taldren stuff from the Directory server.. and that fixed using the file with " marks around the IP addresses.
It may work correctly now.. I haven't tested.. however if you have tested, then I guess it will work.

Thanks for the tip! :D
