someone at armada had made one about 4 times, kept loosing the mesh in crashes...ugh...never got it done.

Anyway, as starforce stated there is one, although its not entirely accurate to Nir's because of the poly count that Armadas version would require. The station was called Darius Starbase and was made by yours truely (with some help from 9ofNines spacedock textures).

What would the poly limit for a station be in sfc II or sfcIII, 10k or could you go as high as 15k :)

i would say 15-20k since most peoples machines are of better speeds than when SFCx first came out

major a payne is there anyone where besides armada fleet command where you uploaded the darius model ? as the link there is wrong it gives you the wrong model

CaptainTombs. I've fixed the link on AFC. I didn't realise it was broken, so appologies for that. Inside the zip you should find both the 3ds and 3dmax (v5.0) files, so feel free to make the conversion. Poly counts around 2.5k

ahh, ok. The person I was refering to was sevenismine. If I remeber correctly he decided to get retarded with his moderator powers at STGN and Jc banned him, and thats the last I've heard of him. He had this base about 3 times and a efw other things and was never bright enough to back anything up or maintain a computer properly and lost everything about once every 3 months... ::)

Hey FW ... just a thought bubba ..... when ya do this model .. keeping the windows the same size . etc .. but do the overall textures just a tad differnet. By that I mean ... ya might have to do a representation of some of the windows. (Not sure I'm making sense at this point.) Oh heck do you best . You and Marky do fine work !

i got seriouslly bored lol trust me the polycount on that bugger slows my computer down, i would love it if someone could make a low poly one really its a kitbash of different bases and shipyards

This is the armada one.... very low poly... its inaccurate too but a good model all the same..

Much better Marky. Much better indeed. At least having both the image and a 3d model to use as a base you can extrapolate what you need to, to make the model far more accurate. Aside form that SFC3 and BC have the lovely higher poly count, which helps somewhat.

i have the the actual model only problem is it would kill someones computer when trying to run it and the poly count is probably higher than warp 10 lol, hopefully markyd will have a bash at a low poly one

a little tidbit of info
the starbase Hellion is the ST equivalent of Babylon 5, it was constructed with the help of the major powers of the Alpha and beta quadrants(Feds,Bajoran,Klingon,Romulan,Cardassian(Civilian order),Ferengi) this starbase houses each of the species, and still has many unused areas that are used for Cargo, refugee requirements and starbase construction, unlike utopia planetia tho this base can produce ships besides federation ones and with the Nanotech they are completed in half the time they are supposed to, in the series im writing tho the base is located near the badlands, from there it created the artificial wormhole that leads to the Delta Quadrant, as a defense and a welcomeing to new species starfleet then proceeded to allow SB Hellion to produce Tactical ships to protect her against old enemies (ie:Borg,Kazon), thanks to the Ferengi Trade Negotiations have started in the Delta Quadrant and old and new friends are able to visit the Alpha/Beta Quadrant while also allowing more exploration of the Delta Quadrant, later in the series, a shocking revelation is revealed about the artificial wormhole but that and many more will be revealed in the fanfic series i hope to make it comic book looking with the help of EF models and BC ones too

If you recall correctly Marky has a secret "other' persona aka Stewie Dude so my guess is BOTH of them are working on this one. That's why he's so fast. LOL. As for the Armada one, could someone convert it and perhaps it could be retextured for another race's starbase. Heck ya know me I'd like to have ALL the bases mentioned in this thread.

the station has already been made... i found a very high poly rendering model of it... im using it as ref... and gonna start again soon..... it is umbelievebly accurate... im sure its the actuall one in the pic actually ;D Patience young man... (ahem) it is coming..... quality comes before speed though ;)

Thanks dude... but the mesh already shown has been binned... I had hit 9k polys at that point and that is before conversion...nice for siggies and stuff.... but the finished model would have been like 25k.... so to that end I got ahold of this super detailed 78k version not from sci fi meshes / startrek australia.. a third party site... but it seems to be someone who knows the original creator pretty well.... so Im just fodding about... working out cools ways to create the extreme detail without killing the poly count.... I am getting somewhere.. timescale is unknown.... but this project WILL BE COMPLETED and you have my word... This is somthing I want to complete for once!!!! ;D

Mesh is now finished ;) texturing will begin this weekend.. i'll post some wips then.... once this is completed FW will be slapping up some nice lightmaps I believe ;)

That's ok bud .. the project I had plans for has been tabled indefinitely any ways ( no body's fault but mine ). But there are others here who obviously like the station.
So ..... when ever you can get it done ... that's cool !
