Title: C++, Me? UAW Missions I'd like to see..

I've decided to learn scripting. Might as well be a modder/scripter instead of just a modder. I have books and software on the way, and plan to make OP Rock and Roll, the Chris Jones way, lol. It's been frustrating me that I have a lot of mission ideas that I cannot implement. Lookout world, lol. Just hope my wife understands. haha!

The OP scripting API R2.2: http://www.khoromag.org/taldren/scripting_api/SFCOP_API_R2.zip

Will only currently work with VC6 SP5 and apply these fixes to the STL files after installing SP5: http://www.dinkumware.com/vc_fixes.html (where applicable, except the <xstring> fix, in your VC install and then sync your \STL includes in the scripting API with your VC install)

Thanks, Bonk.   Looking forward to honing my skills, and this community is the place to do it. I intend to create many missons for Universe At War, and beyond. I've been playing around with Fleetpick, which is brilliant scripting, but I want to create something myself.

Ironically, I was coming to post the same thing.

I'm currently taking CS classes as I'm finishing up my 2-year degree, and am currently learning C.  Is there any tutorials you may recommend for learning the API for SFC3?
And there's no way to use it with GCC, right? :(

Currently the SFC scripting APIs are not compatible with gcc. (or VC8 for that matter)

The only scripting tutorial I am aware of is NuclearWessels'

SFC2 (EAW/OP) Mission Scripting Guide (http://www3.telus.net/NuclearWessels/sfc/api.html) (can also be used as a rough guide for SFC3)

And the readme in the api itself...

I vaguely recall seeing one for SFC3 around, but I'm not really sure it was a scripting tutorial. (I'm not even sure where the SFC3 scripting API can be found...)

Once I get started on these missions..

I'd like to see the following Missions for UAW..  some single player, some multi..

In A Mirror Darkly, Complete with the NX-01 and Tholians..
Some kind of Doomsday Machine/Balance of Terror combination. Having the Roms involved could prove interesting.
Wrath of Khan - My take!
Undiscovered Country - Enteprise A, Klingons, Sulu and the Excelsior.
Something Involving the Enterprise B - perhaps a take on what we saw in Generations
Narendra III - where the Enterprise C came to rescue of a Klingon Outpost.
Another Ent.C mission - My son, now reading Trek books and watching episodes from all the series, wants a series or a movie based on   the Enterprise C. That would be way kool, huh?
Yesterday's Enterprise  - The Enterprise C in Picard's time - alternate reality.. (Best TNG episode?)
Wolf 359 - The Classic Battle! - maybe with a different outcome? - a bit more variety than that SFC3 Misison..
  A few other Borg related scenarios
  1st Contact Borg Battle over Earth
  ALL the classic DS9 Battles
  Voyager's Year of Hell, with the Krenim Time Ship..
  Voyager, The Borg, and Species 8472
  Voyager's Endgame, complete with Cubes that explode upon the impact of 1 transphasic torpedo! (Hellbore)
  Nemesis Battle, this time Picard actually makes it to the fleet - a massive battle ensues..

I hope I find time to do all this - what a great mission pack this would make!

question? will people play these - I don't see much TNG on these boards, and I'm not the biggest SFC3 fan.

Make it and they will come, lol..

I would check them out. It definitely would get me to fire up the ol UAW install to check them out. I was kind of figuring you might come up with some for the UAW Dynaverse server to try out too.  8)

I have C++ installed and patched to SP5. I'll be asking specific questions, but I'll do it in the scipting forum..
