Hi,
after getting the dynaverse working on XP I got my new computer delivred yesterday with Vista Home Premium.
I have turned the windows firewall off, set the PC with the same IP address my old one had (i.e. all port forwarding exactly the same)
Did a Fresh isntall, ran the patch, ran the directory server update, ran the optulus mod, ran AOTK...
and guess what, being told I am behind a firewall :(
I have tried running starfleetop.exe as administrator, also tried running compatibility mode for 98/ME but then for some reaosn it didn't even go past patch check complete, it just sat there mot even telling me I was behind a firewall.
Any tips people? would be greatly appreciated :)
Otherwise my new SD37P2 e6600 Core2duo shuttle is great :D, don't want to have to go back to my XP2500+ just for SFC, but I will if I have to !!!!! :(

Dont know if this'll help... ran into same stupid vista s*** with an HP duo core.... had master recovery disc set up before any installs.... reformatted new machine, reloaded master disc, and everything behaved... only a couple tweaks for the "run in compatibility" mode.... vista machine's been problem free since.

So do you have to run OP in compatibility mode in Vista to get it to work at all???
-
No, I don't think so. I have had no problems getting the game to just run. It will happily load quickly without any tinkering.
My problem is just getting the dynaverse to login :(
My system is a fresh build with a clean installation of Vista Home Premium, so sohuldn't be any problems like the rubbish dell etc load onto their systems
anyone ??

I just bought a Dell, so I'll be stopping my ears when anyone says anything negative about them.
<puts fingers in ears> la la la la la la can't hear you!!! la la la la la la la la la

Well... left windows firewall on, installed everything, had to launch game a few times to get the firewall control to pop up the unblock windows... after everything unblocked, connected fine, no firewall message.

Also try going to your internet security settings and make sure you turn the protected mode to off.
-
Thanks, it looks like it was the protected mode, turned it off for internet and intranet and now seems to be working. Although moves between hexes don't seem too reliable, sometimes can take ages :(
I am running it with Windows Firewall turned OFF in WindowsXP SP2 compatibility mode and with administrative rights.
When I run it as normal without compatibility mode it says I am behind a firewall.

How do you turn off protected mode? I am getting the firewall message and it is really pissing me off.

I found it and was able to connect. YEAH!!!
