you all suck!

Poorly constructed. What else need be said?

1) "...used laser cutting to make the pieces out of Baltic Birch wood.", 'nuff said.
2) Launched with wings in "attack position", which even in the movies didn't work in an atmosphere. (far as I remember, it's been a long time)
3) No control surfaces for directional control
Result) Take a guess.
Is there anyone here who couldn't have told them exactly what was going to happen and what whould cause it before it was even launched?
Frankly I'd like to see them try that again with an aircraft aluminum frame and skin.

A Y-Wing would have worked better!! ;D

Heh... wow. Seems like it was just a super-sized model rocket. I dont think they ever intended it to actually survive the flight.

I believe the quote is "We're optimistic it'll survive." In fact they included a parachute to soften the landing. If anything they expected it to smash on impact not shred in the air.
It's a nice concept it just required better materials.

They went one better than that, here in the UK....
A TV show "Top Gear" lauched a car on a exact replica of the Space Shuttle SLB and Fuel Tank about a mile or so into the air. The car had wings and was meant to seperate and RC fly back it to land. Unfortunately the explosive bolts didn't go bang and it came down with the booster unit.
It performed a perfect launch, however.
The Car??
A Reliant "Robin"!! ;D

I'd love to see them try it again with better electronics and explosive bolts. That looked very promising!

TNG uses Honda Acty vans as shuttles!! ::)
The Sci-Fi club, at the local University, tricked out a Honda Acty van into a TNG shuttle just for a laugh, during my spell there.
