insert your glib "sky is falling" or "global warming conspiracy theory" comments here. just know that i will moderate them and then make fun of you.

Wonder if they are still using the faulty satellite data yet?
-
Well, to be fair, last winter was pretty mild, and we had an especially hot summer. Although, we certainly seem to be making up for it this winter.
-
Where do you live that you had a mild winter?
Last winter down here around Nashville, TN was one of the coldest in the past 20 years. This year is worse....
@Marstone, they are probably still using the data from the land stations that aren't following established guidelines too....
-
Just read the new release. It is cherry picked. Says the high ties 2005 not beat it. Also the temp is average land temp in 2010 (doesn't say if land, sea, or average for 2005). The sea temp in 2010 was 3rd highest.
Not sure for sure but got the feeling the numbers also only covered the US and not world landmasses.
Also have to say one year up out of five is not a trend (haven't found a chart showing all the years of th 21st century yet)

It is the climate of fear they use. >:(

YEA i still WONDER if those predicted/ happening and true SOLAR events are an issue. Warming but yet BRRRRRR 2ND year in a row 49 states have snow :-X Its funny how i can work when the sun is out at 15 temp but when the glimmer of a thin cloud make me run for the heater .

LoL. Here in North Dakota we are backwards. In winter cloudy days are way warmer then sunny ones.

I believe that is the case in most places. Warm temperatures correspond to low pressures (rising warm air) and precipitation. High pressures usually correspond to bright clear skies. Though the precip is mostly on the boundaries...
Yup, a warm winter usually means more snow here too. (heavy and wet) Sticks around just long enough to need shovelling, then melts! :banghead: Ya just can't win with the shovelling/plowing/salting/sanding. :D I kinda miss those -20 days... you felt tough just being out in it.
-
people never understand when i tell them it has to warm up to snow.
-
Yep, understand it from where I live. Hitting that low this weekend.
-
We have had a conga line of "Alberta Clipper" lows hitting us. The good news is the temperature has stayed up, the bad it has snowed a little bet almost every day for about two weeks. It has been all powder though so easy to shovel or even use a broom on.

I caught on to that when I was 10 years old!

If there is something that springs into the eye, its the increase in intensity of those weather phenomenons.
For me this translates into more energy being in the system.
All observed phenomenons like increasing sizes in hail pebbles, insane amounts of snow in the winter, extreme increase in humidity levels throughout the day, increasing of sudden weather events, hailstorms ,tornados, heavy rain, increased amount of lightning etc.
All observable without reading a single chart, are exactly what i would expect if the energy in the system is increasing.
All i know is there is something going on and the reason for it is something we cant control or sufficiently influence to make a real difference.
If we are the reason for it it will increase till we are not a factor anymore, problem solved.

I'm not going to pretend man-made global warming isn't happening. But its pretty clear that certain interested parties have exaggerated the extent of the problem. In doing so, they've made the problem even worse because in their calls for drastic change, they've pretty much caused a backlash that makes the small, relatively painless changes we could make impossible.

Now we have a real winter day on our hands here today! :) I love it.
In Fahrenheit: -11.2°F - with windchill: -38.2°F :o -38!!! (the scales happen to cross near there too... = -39°C)
My fingers can freeze in the time it takes to have a smoke. 8) ;D
No way will the old Volvo start at -40... I need me some horses!
