I am attempting to install SFC 2, patch 2.037. The instructions say to copy 2.037 folder to EAW root directory.
Which one is the root directory? I have installed SFC 2 under c:\program files (x86)\StarFleet Command II 7_6_20.
There is also a Taldren directory under C:\Program Files (x86)\Taldren. However, it is populated only with starfleet command II Patcher.
1st, do I just place the 2.037 patch folder (unzipped) under c:\program files (x86)\StarFleet Command II 7_6_20 and run the install.bat from inside the 2.037 folder?
Or do I copy all of the unzipped 2.037 files, place them under c:\program files (x86)\StarFleet Command II 7_6_20 and run the install.bat?
I believe I have tried both and error message says 'must install from root directory.
Please help.

The 2.037 patch is now a drag-and-drop update. Should be easier for everyone now.

Open archive with 7zip, select all folders and files (ctrl+a), and drag-and-drop to the folder that has your 2.036 StarFleet2.exe.

I believe I have fixed the install_2037 bat issue. I copied the needed files to assets as directed.
Now, I have installed 2037 patch. Game freezes.
However, when I attempt to play I can get to the mission briefing screen. I chose ready, and game freezes.
Running as administrator, and reduced my app to 16 bits for app. Game still freezes.
I have updated sfc.ini under StarFleet Command II directory.
Tried 1920 x 1080 Ultra HD resolution
Tried 1680 x 1050 PC version. No luck.
Tried updated compatibility to XP service pack 2. and then XP service pack 3; no luck.
I have the Geforce GTX 1660 super, and Windows 10 latest build.
Any help on this?

Although I don't have this game, I'm seeing across the web and notes on Steam even, that the latest builds of Windows 10 is causing a "cascade" issue with older gaming and application programs where they no longer work, even when the Direct X and 3D drivers have been updated and are correct. I had to move a few of my older games and an older Adobe Photoshop I had that worked several weeks ago over to my virtual drive as they no longer are compatible with Windows 10.

Update:
I have the original CD's for Empires of War SFC volume 2. Having issues with game freezes and the 2.037 patch is installed. Any help on preventing screen from freezing, once I get into a mission? This is where it freezes. I can get to the campaign, choose supplies, move to a map location, then I hit accept of whatever mission is available. Then I hit the 'ready' button, and that is where it freezes.
As stated before, I have copied 2.037 files to assets as directed in 2.037 link.
Can anyone help?

CD (or .iso) + 2.036 patch + 2.037 patch is the correct sequence.
CD (or .iso) + 2.037 patch will not work properly.
