Topic: Campaign - now what?

Hello,

I am play SFC3 and trying the Romulan Campaign.  I have done a couple of missions - not it seems I just fly around and attck other ships.

Is there any  more to a single player campaign?

Can I get other ships to join me - a few asked and there were scouts or small ships.  I want other warbirds to join me so I can take on a star base with all the other ships around.

What else is there to do in a campaign?
