Another limitation of Win 98 and ME.. you could put 4 gigs memory into the system, however the OS would never utilize more than 512 MB of it.. 512 MB is all Win 98 or ME could ever recognize being on the system.. specs state 4 GB, OS operates and recognizes only 512 of it.. talk about Memory leak.

Actually there is a fix that lets you use to 768 mb (at least).  The gotcha is that you have to install the OS with 512mb or less apply the fix and then add the extra memory.  So if you ever have to reinstall your OS you have to remember to remove the "excess memory" first.

As for OS goes.. the list is missing the XP variations.. it combines Home and Pro into the poll...

however, under XP.. Home and Pro are moot so long as people are using XPSP 2 IT Install (266 mb).. Trns Home and Pro into Pro SP 2 reguardless of what splash screen states.

Now under the Pro edition, there are 3 versions released prior to XPSP 2

there is the XP Pro Corporate, XP Pro 64 Bit Server Edition and Media Center Edition.

Under Media Center Edition, there are 3 versions which were sold separately on prebuilt machines..

MCE2002, MCE 2004, and MCE 2005

I happen to be using Windows XP Professional Media Center Edition 2005 with XPSP 2 build 2180 IT Install.. runs extremely stable. No lock ups or crashes.. havent had to reboot my system since I installed it in Nov 2004 when it was released.
