Models I'd like to see for the new year
« on: December 30, 2004, 11:47:08 pm »
Posting in another thread, I got to thinking about what models I'd love to see come out in the New Year.  I'd like to see a lot of people add their model wishlists to this thread.  There's a whole lot of us that don't make the models, but use them.  It would be cool if we could give back to the modelers, maybe held lend a voice to the ideas and trends of the modeling community.

So, here's my wishlist...

1. Lord Schtupp's Kitty Hawk Carrier (here) and the various fighters and shuttles he has depicted in his wip shots (here).  These are definately first on my list of goodies.  C'mon, Schtupp, you know ya wanna put it at the top of the pile. ;D

2.  Thu11 to continue his Federation fighters project (I'm hoping for the F-18 next :) ).

3.  More fighters and shuttles.  ;D First, a cool looking "fast-back" TOS shuttle; second, a TMP-ish fighter that has nice lines, very aggressive looking; next, a nifty TNG fighter, looks like a short-range interceptor type.   Here's a really nice Runabout design, it would make a very cool Fed PF for any era, I think.  Next is two shots (one / two) of the TNG Warhammer runabout/fighter design, always wondered why no one had done these.  Last, but not least, this Klingon fighter which could be used for any era (I seem to remember the name Wes1701, sound familar to anyone else?).

4.  A couple of Romulan bases (well, one is a base, the other is a shipyard) from the FASA Rom recognition manual.  I've always really liked these.  I also really dig the FASA Federation Alamo base, I'd love to have this for battle stations.

5.  Although S31-MarkyD is whipping up this really cool TOS design, I'd still love to see an SFB-true NCF model (trust me, I can use them both, heheh).

Well, there's my top five.  So, who's up next? ;D

In no particular order here is my wishlist for 2005:

1) I'd like to see the Titan (the one from www.ussmiranda.com) finally completed.
2) Willarddecker's vast collection of Connies, etc. is something I DROOL and pine over
3) More of Raven Night's gorgeous Rommies
4) The Infinity from BC ported to SFC. She's a massive carrier vessel and a design by Raven Night as well
5) More Connies based upon "Ships of The Star Fleet Volume One"
6) Hellions, monsters from the mind of Azel a.k.a. Atolm

CG's Sovereign 2.0.  It's so close to completion you can almost taste it.

P81's new TMP Connie.

TheStressPuppy's "Renaissance" series of TOS vessels.

The NX-01 from P81, but with C2X's high-res textures in BC.

The Intrepid and the other smaller Earth ships from ENT, based on the above NX.

More ENT ships, since we're going to be getting a lot of them this year on the show.

(Note: My wish list is for SFC1 and/or 2, not 3.  Just for those who care about reading lists or what not. *shrug*)

Some probably have already been done, some haven't...

Someone wished for CG's Sovereign for SFC... If he's doing a Warbird (as comments in an A2 PotD seem to indicate here), it would be nice to have that.
Second on the list definately is Scotchy's Galaxy-class model, that is if anyone feels like converting it over too.
I think Will's Constitution-class ships may be worth waiting for.  WZ's Constitution-class certainly was, blows P81's popular one back in 2001 out of the water (no offense).
I wonder how many people've worked on ships from Masao Okazaki's Starfleet Museum and which are still available out there...
More of Thu11s work in general, as well as many other people's work.

Other than that, I don't know, I guess intrest comes as I see more models roll off the WIP lists...

My wish list:

1) LS's Kitty Hawk. What a COOL carrier. I bit dorky, but no more so than the MacArthur or the Coronando types floating about! This ship will make a real good and unique CVS.

2) Aethrohaven's Leif Erricson (Pardon Spelling). The old AMT mystery ship deserves a spot in SFC! I have a full set of specs ready to go!

3) LS's Antares. A truely unique frigate/long range explorer.

4) A real fed frigate. Not the dorky SFB variants. Something with the quality and detail of the Antares, but a bit smaller.

Hmmm  let's see..

Personally I think we have enough Fed TOS and SFB stuff for a while ...  but we really need to work on late late TNG  ...  BC, BCH and maybe a good advanced FF and DD ...  getting those completed.

AS well we REALLY need a good Klingon, Romulan and Gorn to match the AAC, ( I thought about the possibilities of an ISC Advanced Cruiser  ...  but not sure how well that would go over?) ..

OH  know ...  while we are at it ....  maybe a new ship from a "mystery" race ??????  Not sure if we want to go "organic" design or not .   But it should be a little on the exotic side of things.

just a few thoughts !

thanks

Some good news:

IRCC The  Valkyrie is from ST: Invasion (Playstation1). It has been made and I'll post it on Battleclinic ASAP. IIRC its a TNG fighter...

I'm still looking for Spyder Murphy's Hydran Stinger Fighter:

As for the Klingon Fighter: http://home.comcast.net/~wanderer01/Pics/Kftr1.gif I believe Jeff Wallace did one very similar to it already.

KF, I have most of Jeff's stuff, but just in case I looked thru his stuff again over at http://sfc-mods-r-us.net/ aka Cloak & Dagger Studio, didn't see anything like the Klink fighter.  There is a pretty cool Klink ship ( http://sfcmodsrus.0catch.com/unknownklingon.html ) that I think is supposed to be a frigate, but it would make a pretty cool PF with a bridge window at the end of the 'spine'.

Wanderer, that is a cool ship, but the poly count is high. Real high. It needs to go thru a poly reducer.

LS, lol, you have -2 karma? And you're upset about that? HAH! I have 105! Course I'm in the server business where no good deed goes unpunished. I've always given you positive prestige. You always do it right. ;) Dont fret. If this same guy has it in for you, u can expect negative karma every 12 hours. Some dude did that to me, and when I finally said something about it, some 20 -karma later, I found out it is against the rules to arbitrarily dish it out like that. I think this person is gonna get busted... hehe. So mb tell a moderator if it continues to climb over the next few days. They can ck that stuff. ;)

Keep modeling!

Currently working on the New Galactica and shortly after that the other ships from that series as well as the classic BSG. So you can take those off the list for this year, God I hope I can get them all done in a year.

I know youre a navy enthusiast so I would definately entertain any improvement in the design of that if you think would make it a better model. Im not 100% likin' that model.

Ok troops heres the deal on the Antares. The mesh is done and 1/3 textured, it is almost totally faithful to reverends plans but it sitting at about 5400 polys. It is truly killer and real detailed. However, I have used every skill to reduce polys and let me tell you its time consuming. As such it cant be used as a oft encountered common fleet ship, unless I build lods, which is also time consuming. Anyway thats the crossroads where Im stuck on that one, needs about 12 hours more work either way.

To address #4, I am right now at this moment working on a real cool destroyer sized ship that will be a more common fleet destroyer, much better than the salidin design and very similiar to the Antares, and then I will work on the Antares as a "special"

Ah,... all is explained, then. Take your time and extract every bit of fun you can out of building them. Anytime we can collect a genuine Lord Schtupp creation is fine day for a model junkie. They have all these do-dads and thing-a-ma-bobs on them. (There is still disagreement as to what the little gold turret is on the back of the Endeavor. I say it is an ADD system but another says it's the G rack). Not to mention that the basic model is pretty friggin' cool to begin with. I would rather have fewer Schtuppified versions than more that didn't get The Treatment. At least that's what I think.

its an ADD - like the smaller Phas-G if you look close it looks like a four barrel gatling gun. uh I forgot to texture in the drone rack on the monitor, doh
