When enough peeps post I'll compile and average the results. It should be interesting. I'll start:

I used to be really good as a Hydran. But it's been so long since I've played them... there are a lot of unusual and unique aspects of Hydran strategy and tactics that you cannot know or even appreciate till you have played them for a while. I have already forgotten some of it. Use it or lose it.

Alot really depends on the race you are flying against the ship class and the era, but off the top of my head I'd say in general this is my order.

4) Federation
5) Gorn
6) Mirak

Hmmmmmmm.   Good question.   This is definitely better than Hexx's poll thread.

1) Gorn          (like an old steel helmet that's become so comfortable after lots of wear and tear)         
2) Klingon       (an old favorite, nothing like strapping yourself into a D5 death dealer)
3) Romulan     (plasma armed, klingon hulls, and NSMs, oh my)           
4) Mirak          (the true litterbugs of the universe and very scrappy)     
5) ISC            (plasma and PPDs, a ship that when flown well cannot be beat)
6) Hydran       (great balance of armament, with all those little cans of whoopass in your shuttlebay)
7) Federation  (Mirror, Mirror server.........hurt me, hurt me.........hey, stop that, I was joking)
8( Lyran         (Ah, the pure joy of flying around on GW1 and pretending I was a lawnmower with spikes)

Just talking to chuut, and realized something right off. The poll is what you fly best... but has little to do with what you like best... That should be something to think about...

The lot of 4s is my tied races since I prett much equally suck with all four of them.

1) Rom (killed many with the mauler,my fave ship)
2) Kling (nice mix of weapons and pwr curve...for the most part)
3) ISC   (just nasty....point and shoot)
4) Gorn ( can take a beating and still kick you in the teeth)
5) Fed   ( all around ok ships...I'll take a BCF up against almost anything)
6) Hydran (hope to bump this up on SGO)
7) Mirak  (can't be beat for hex flippin,but when Mirvs and fast missles and fighters combine=a big block of cheese)
Lyran (never killed anyone with 1 of these ships,luv their maulers though)

1) Lyran (FSD has been flying Lyran non stop for 2 and half years now by far most challenging and exciting race of them all for me)

2) Klingon (1st race played was in many Klink fleets DOA PDK BAD RDA)

3) Romulan (Played Rom for a few cycles in PDK really enjoyed them on SGO IV)

4) ISC (never played them other than in fun games but hard to not win with cheese)

5) Mirak (played the with PDK for a couple of cycles sub par cat ships  )

6) Hydran (played them with CB for a cycle or two. Best time playing as CB did not focus on fighters and we tended to played a lot of the other Hydran ships.

7) Federation (just seems dirty and my older brother always played them in SFB so I just developed a natural hate for them  have never played them until Mirror Mirror may try again on SGO V and Yes, I will shower after every use just like when finished with a dirty ho  )

Gorn (Umm where is the cloaking device? Never played them in anything but on GSA fun games, not bad but why when there are Roms to play.)

Cannot really comment on Rom and Gorns cuz I don't fly them enough. In fact, I don't think I have ever flown Gorn on any dyna ever.

To further complicate things from a Mirak perspective, within the Mirak community itself there are 2 polar opposite pvp approaches.

Those who use drones as actual weapons to damage the opponent.
Those who use drones to manipulate the opponent into doing what you want them to do.

There are just enough racks on most ships to use either approach really. It's been so cool over the years watching the same ships used so radically different by my friends. Some races have pretty set standard attack procedures, but I'm sure some other race guys can identify with what I'm talking about.

The simple fact is no matter how much you may want to use drones to hurt someone, against an experienced opponent it's not going to happen unless they allow it to. I really don't see them as seperate strategies but one and the same. How the Mirak's opponent handles the drones determine which strategy is being used.

Actually while t00l is correct to a degree, as tactics change depending on the enemy actions, the type of drones carried and how they are initially used usually does revolve around the pilot,s style. If the pilot is hoping for a crushing drone strike he will likely be carrying type 4s, if he wants to use them as a movement constraint he will likely be carrying type 1s.  The same applys to the types of fighters he carries.  After the mission starts and intial phases of combat have occurred, however, the Kzin pilot usually has to base his actions on the enemy's responses.

A lot of this is practice.  I'm certain that the order would change if I flew some of the races near the bottom more often on the D2.  I think that intrinsically the ISC and the Lyrans should be near the top, but I tend to use ISC torps too offensively and I don't manage my Lyran power curve tightly enough so I end up getting caught on little mistakes with both of them.
