What ever happened to the hires model packs??
« on: January 27, 2006, 11:27:24 pm »
I thought I might like to spice up my d2 experience with some hires models.  I remember there being packages for download somewhere.  Anyone know where I can find them?

High resolution models are not reccomended for multiplayer play, unless you have a powerhouse of a PC and beastly video card. OP+4 uses models of limited polygons for a reason.

However, there are boatloads of models available in the models forum:

I do vaguely seem to recall this "high res" model pack but not sure where it can be found and not sure that it isn't completely obsolete considering all the models posted since its release.

You might want to check out the docs on battleclinic.com as linked on our front pages, MrCue has accumulated more models than you can shake a stick at there.

I found it at sfc3files.

If I install OP 4+ without models over it, will that create any problems?

Theoretically no, as long as your system has the specs to handle the models without adding lag to multiplayer play.

I had thought so as well but I did not see it mentioned in the description unless my eye passed over it.

It's still available at EFF HQ:
http://www.nightsoft.net/effhq/util.html

Pestalence had repacked the files, so
the hi-res version is 38.3 MB, and the low-res version is 21.6 MB.
