I have always liked Unity and Island Wars myself. However I guess it comes down to what you like to play. Unity is close to the stock game and Island Wars has more powerfull ships over all. I have tried NDF as well and that also has powerfull ships and the battles last a long time. As far a stability goes it all depends on the server kit and the patch that is being run. Plus as most people know SFC3 is one heck of a buggy game so stability may not be the best term.

Unity is the most balanced mod in the SFCIII universe NDF has a lot of cool features but UNITY ranks in at the highest.

Unless youve tried legions at war I guarantee you that it is more balanced than any and a whole lot harder ai. After all unity mod got its core start form us.
