I've learned that NEVER update your drivers if you don't have any problems. My laptop has ATi Mobility Radeon 9700 and installed with the drivers released in 2004. It's very stable and compatible with every game and softwares I installed, e.g. SFC1/OP/3, DW, Armada, BC, Nexus, Sins of a solar empire, 3ds max 5, gmax 1.2, etc.

I update, but always save the old drivers to roll back to if needed.
