was reading this writeup today of a new ion engine design. amazing tech here, it can cut the six month trip to mars by regular rocket propulsion down to 39 days!!! it is called the "Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket (VASIMRŽ)" good read and informative.
