Total Recall 1990

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100802/

vs

Bicentennial Man 1999

Two movies that bring forth questions about our own selves, are we little more than a culmination of our own memories, or something else?

Normally I would vote Asimov by default, but they mutilated the story.

yes they did. I had the same problem with many of Hienliens works turned to movies.

Even if they butchered it (I didn't read the original story) Bicentennial Man still gets the nod for asking all the right sci fi questions to keep things interesting.

Sure - I'm more likely to watch Total Recall if it is on - but Bicentennial Man is a more important film - who's issues we'll be dealing with quite possibly in the not to distant future.

The same issues have been covered by Asimov and his short stories dozens of times.

I just watched Bicentennial Man.  With it fresh in my mind, I almost voted for it.  In the end though, I'd rather be entertained by theatre than provoked by it. I chose Total Recall.

I liked both, so I can't decide.

I have an idea for one of your next polls...

Firefox vs Stealth

Just watched Stealth again last night.  Other than some geography issues that nag at me, and some of the usual Hollywood machismo, I really enjoy this movie.  The kickass soundtrack that BT did is just a bonus...

Stealth was an awesome movie I thought. At least the wife and I enjoyed it as a sit back and relax kind of movie. we go through our days, where we enjoy some films where you have to think about, other days, where we like a more cerebral show.

LOL, to give you an example , today's afternoon movie was Gargoyles (1972) which we rented from netflix, and has been sitting here for ever. She got to watch a young Scott Glenn, and I got to see Jennifer Salt run around in a halter top. LOL

My friend, it doesn't get better than that. (except for Erin Grey)
