Considering I went through the entire inventory of empire ships checking and changing ship classes to suit my needs, one little error is pretty darn good! One other thing I saw that puzzled me was the "I" tag in special role on some ISC ships.

Also, the bulk of Romulan hawk-class cruisers are labeled as HEAVY_BATTLECRUISER, but they should mostly be HEAVY_CRUISER. Their bloated BPV that puts them up in the BCH range of 180-200 is often due to the cloak, which probably doesn't deserve the BPV boost it gives. This is up for debate, though, and changeable by D2 admins, so I don't see a big issue with it.

I noticed you've been classing the cargo pod variants of the tugs and transports as FREIGHTER. Is this by design to try to get them to show up as convoy members in raids/escorts? Since they are tagged as "R" for restricted, they may not show up anyway, but I was just curious. A group of them in a convoy mission sure would be a change of pace.

I don't know what the "I" tag does. I left it alone.
.. as for the romulan BCHs/CAs..  we'll need to discuss it so that the issue is clear for any future release.

.. and finally, Yes. It was intentional. .. but NW only made modifications to his convoy raid/escort recently, and I haven't seen them in battle yet. I'm still hoping. Would the 'R' field prevent that?

I think the "R" would prevent them from showing up, but I couldn't prove it.

I suppose you could try a version that has the "R" tag removed for those ships, but it would be hit or miss to see if it pulled them in, unless you restricted ALL other normal freighters for the target race, giving it no choice but to grab the tugs.

I believed the 'R' tag would prevent them from showing up in shipyard, but still allows them to be created in missions.

I have never seen an R ship show up at all in a campaign, for players or AI.

Well.. the cargo-carrying tugs shouldn't be seen on a normal battlefield anyways..
.. They've been set to "R" with purpose, and as freighters in the hope they'd be used in convoy missions..

Then you probably want to set them as SPECIAL so the AI will get them. If they are set like that and as Freighters that should do it.

But these ARE freighters.. Tugs with cargo pods.
.. if we set them as SPECIAL, they can't be picked by random for various scripts.

Ok, but if you class them as "R" they won't be picked at all.

But if I left them in as available Freighters, there'd be dangerous cheap ships available in shipyards. (FREIGHTER is what. ... 0.5 to 1? Amongst the cheapest ships to buy with prestige.)

If I put them in as SPECIAL, they'd be even more crippled as far as selections go. I need to experiment with scripting to see if I can make the 'R' ships appear.

I thought the SPECIAL tag was for scripting purposes so that ships that couldn't be bought could be put into specific scripts. Besides, Q-Ships are cheap and dangerous and they can be bought. On most servers if I am started in the stock frigate, I trade it in for an FQL anyway.

Well..I have plans for the freighters.
There are MANY of them, and  I want to be able to pick from them (from the scripts) for a special convoy mission or 2.. once in a while.

I think Corbo is right as far as if you make them R (restricted) they won't show up randomly for either
the player or the AI. Now to confuse things worse than they allready are, I *believe* if you make them L
(limited) then the AI gets them, but the player can't. Who knows, hopefully one of us is right LOL.

But I don't want them to show up in random missions either. :P~   (They would suck..)

I'm sorry. I guess I didn't understand. If you specify a particular ship in a script, then it doesn't matter how you have it listed in the shiplist, it'll show up in the script. (I'm sure you know this.) What I meant was, I think if you have it listed as limited then it will show up as an AI ship of a particular class, ie: freighter, scout, q-ship, or whatever, but won't show up in the players shipyard for purchase. At least that's how I believe the listing works. Maybe someone from Taldren, or someone else that knows for sure, will stick their head in here and straighten us out

If Limited works, I'd like to see it. ;>

The ship class, I think, is mainly (not entirely?) for pricing and production. One thing that could be done is to set them as FREIGHTER, and make all freighters impossible to produce in the shipyard via Economy.gf. They would still get pulled in for missions. What about tagging them as "Q" so they appear in convoy raids/escorts as Q-ships?

I've never known what "L" does. So much for documentation, eh? You'd think we'd all have figured out these things by now.

Thought I should post here too...

I created an installer for the current version (20030413)
with NSIS (an easy to use install system), see:

That would screw up single-player campaigns or other people's campaigns.

I just sent NW a modified version of one of his missions. I'm hoping he'll accept the proposal, despite the fact it uses MagnumMan's shiplist API.

Yes, that means that I intend to leave the Tugs with cargo pods/pallets as "R" and "FREIGHTER". It's cleaner that way.

(The F-TUGRc3 has 3 cargo pods. Each cargo pod contains 24 cargo boxes. The tug itself has a movement cost of 2.0)

Bugs in version 2.0 so far:
Z-HDWG is really the Z-HDWE. The Z-HDWG is missing.
F-FFT (Priority Transport Frigate) should be "R"
F-DWT (Priority Transport War Destroyer) should be "R" and should be properly placed.

.. any others?
