We didn't need AIs in SFB. Thats what newbies were for.

never could find anyone to play lol.. it scared away too many people (anything with a rulebook bigger than 4 pages tends to do that...)
had the original and expansions 1-3 and the carrier add on for commander's edition.. and later picked up a bunch of the captains edition stuff
I think i'll page through it while i'm stuck 'in battle'
