Dave,

I've tried copy/paste one of your avatars to my profile but I keep getting improper picture size. And hints on adding it.

I had a similar error. I found a space after the pasted text and one before it.
Once I removed them it was fine.

Also make sure you copy the entire path and *remove* the 'http://' that is auto-inserted there for you.
