Well, this one is coming at 15,000+ polies...have some chopping to do. ;D Decided to do this since few ftr's have been done. Let me know what you think...

You seldom see more than 6x Freighters on a dyna mission, and then there are usually 2x draft spots on either side. That means you have 10 models + all the PF's and ftrs that may also be present.

I'd ask, in the interests of seeing these freighters be used on a dyna, that you keep the polys under 7k.

Here's another thing to consider... Freighters are really good for only one thing. And that's to blow up! So make the break mod real pretty if the dyna is your target! ;)

Your poly culprit here is the freight containers/pods/whatever edges, just one segment needed for bevels, also get rid of the four-segmented look(they look like cotton bales) just make the pod single beveled box type object IMO.

I agree with LS.  The divisions on the containers can be done just as well with the textures.  It does look sweet as is though.

WOW  Sandman ..   good start ..  thought the poly count is just a tad high...  this should turnm out to be excellent !!

If you do reduce to polys ..  try not to reduce it too much...  This could be one sweet freighter

Gonna experiment with the cargo containers...used a chamfer box, then cloned and attached to get the right look. I'll probably keep this for renders and such, and redo the containers for the game.

OK, got the poly count down to 7452...can probably get some more chopped, but have to get ready for work...I'll work on it some more tonight. :thumbsup:

I like the texturing so far. How many polies are in each nacel. Maybe drop the top and bottom ones to save more poly's. Cause most freigthers run 2k due to there being 6 in game.

Not sure on the nacelles poly count. The schematic I'm using from EAS shows the 4 nacelles...2 would look dinky IMO. I may release 2 versions, this one, then a low poly one with cargo containers made from one box with the edges chamfered...we'll see. :-\

I think it's an artifact...it's really only one nacelle cloned 3 times and rotated for the sides, :P
