el Karnak !!!!
« on: January 18, 2005, 07:36:16 pm »

I would like to know a little more about your missions regarding single player for OP for Romulans.I would like to know if you made them up like the stock Taldren missions where they use their cloaking devices as opposed to Nuclear Wessels Missions that don't that don't use it.What are your missions like anyway? What makes them different than NWs and how? What would they be like on the Dyna?
Thanks.

I don't do anything special to the cloaking devices for Romulan AI.  All the AI in EEK missions are going to be using legendary officers except for the Weapon's Officer and the Captain. So, you should have a Romulan AI ship that is reasonably intelligent about the usage of his cloaking device.

As for the big difference between EEK and NW missions. Only three things really stand out:

1)  EEK missions will be more prescient in the spawning of both Allied and Enemy AI in the missions. I basically dislike DN and BB AI in any SFC mission so you won't see them in any EEK missions except for the Homeworld Defence and Assault missions.  Instead, in cases where a DN AI is needed in a patrol mission, I prefer to spawn an extra enemy AI ship. I've found that the missions are more challenging for the player to face a CA-class ship and a FF-DD class ship vis-a-vis a single DN AI.  The AI is not that smart; especially, against droners. So, more AI means a more challenging mission experience for the player.

2) EEK missions are all about AI Stripping for PvP play. Basically, if you are involved in a PvP match against an opposing enemy human player then you will not see any extraneous AI in all EEK patrol missions. This means you can have a PvP match free of interfering AI.

3) EEK mssions are the first to implement randomized map terrain. In order to make the missions more interesting, each  mission played iteration has a randomized chance of using different map terrain. For example, if you run the same mission over and over again, you will see different terrain about half of the time. SOmetimes, you'll have empty space, sometimes you will have planets,  sometimes you will have moons, sometime you will have ion storms, sometimes you will have asteroids...and sometimes you will have a combination of all of them.

There are other cutesy items like SFC4 tech such as tactical warp (ie. SFC3 warp works in EEK OP missions), but I don't distribute those missions out much.
