Yet more annoyingly technical questions...
« on: July 17, 2005, 04:43:41 pm »
...for Kadh specifically, but for the rest of you too if you know the answers.

Yes, it's me again. :) I'm putting together a Hydran History for my site and I'm looking to find out a few things. Typically, I've already forgotten the second qestion I wanted to ask, but I can always come back later and ask it on this thread.

So, on with the Never-Ending Quest To Save My Girlfriend!

...um... wrong Quest. Sorry.  ;D

So, on with the Never-Ending Quest For More Knowledge!

1) Is the "Nova Cannon" that the Hydrans invent in SFB Y071 their own name for the Fusion Beam, or is it an earlier version/different weapon altogether, and if so, when was the current era Fusion Beam developed?
(Was it the same year as they invent the Gatling phaser, SFB Y133?)

2) Can anyone tell me why the Hydran Civil War in the Lost Colonies lasted for 38 years?? And how they managed to build enough ships in a single year (SFB Y134 to Y135) to retake their Kingdom from the Klingons?
(Admittedly, I've already come up with a really good explanation based on events in Jaeih's STU, but I want to know the SFB reasoning.)

3) When is the official/semi-official/best guess date for the birth of the Hydran Kingdom? Ratboy's Starfleet Command Timeline 5th Edition has it in 332 BCE with the launch of their first space rocket, but Ambassador Solev's Hydran Racial Profile has him stating the Kingdom is
Quote
a vast empire nearly two thousand years old
putting it at around 300 AD.
Clarification, anyone?

That's all I have so far. Any data will be welcome, but something that can be backed up by fact would be nice as it might end up coming down to which speculation/combination of rumours I like for a best fit.

I look forward to enlightenment. My thanks in advance.

I'll dig into it.

I seem to recall hearing something along the lines of that once the Hydrans were presumed to be crushed, the line ships all got moved to deal with the renewed threat from the Federation, and the Hydrans only had to go against the dregs of the Klingon Navy. Once the Hydrans started to move back into their space, the Klingons simply hadn't the resources to fight a two front war, and the Hydrans had a comparatively easy time taking their space back. I'll ask around on the D2 Experiences board to get some more info and to make sure I heard this right. (Damn I wish I had all the SFB modules...)

IIRC, much of the control of the defeated Hydran Empire was done from orbital bases and the Klingon fleet was witdrawn.

Ok. That doesn't change what I heard that much. The dregs of the officer corps and enlisteds. Such duty would have been punishment detail.

Hey all, BUMP.

I was just wondering if anyone had came up with answers for my specific questions yet?

Ask around it the Dynaverse II Experiences forum. There are folks there that have ALL of the SFB source materials.
