I really don't know what I am doing with Mirak ships. I tend to fly them like a Klingon would and the durn thing can't turn fast enough.

Mirak and Klink ships need to be flow different.   Though they have the same weapons, they are very different

To further complicate things from a Mirak perspective, within the Mirak community itself there are 2 polar opposite pvp approaches.

Those who use drones as actual weapons to damage the opponent.
Those who use drones to manipulate the opponent into doing what you want them to do.

There are just enough racks on most ships to use either approach really. It's been so cool over the years watching the same ships used so radically different by my friends. Some races have pretty set standard attack procedures, but I'm sure some other race guys can identify with what I'm talking about.

What I found most interesting is that almost everyone picked Lyran as either their first or last.

The simple fact is no matter how much you may want to use drones to hurt someone, against an experienced opponent it's not going to happen unless they allow it to. I really don't see them as seperate strategies but one and the same. How the Mirak's opponent handles the drones determine which strategy is being used.

Actually while t00l is correct to a degree, as tactics change depending on the enemy actions, the type of drones carried and how they are initially used usually does revolve around the pilot,s style. If the pilot is hoping for a crushing drone strike he will likely be carrying type 4s, if he wants to use them as a movement constraint he will likely be carrying type 1s.  The same applys to the types of fighters he carries.  After the mission starts and intial phases of combat have occurred, however, the Kzin pilot usually has to base his actions on the enemy's responses.

A lot of this is practice.  I'm certain that the order would change if I flew some of the races near the bottom more often on the D2.  I think that intrinsically the ISC and the Lyrans should be near the top, but I tend to use ISC torps too offensively and I don't manage my Lyran power curve tightly enough so I end up getting caught on little mistakes with both of them.
