I know people have mentioned it before, but does anyone know if there is a remedy for the loss of all sound in game but the music?

Are you talking the crew voices or everything such as weapons fire and shields going up or down as well?

If it's just crew voices, there's a setting in the ini file for crew voices. It should = 3

If it's everything, then check in your assets/sounds folder. There should be a zip file and a text file, sfcsounds and sounds.txt respectively.

If you are missing those, the only way I would know of would be to reinstall the game

Figured it out.

Apparently, sometimes the OP+4.0 installer might hang or something, as windows generally always seems to do once and while, but in my case, it happened while it was rewriting the sound file to fix the ESG loop or whatever it is, the installer puts a back up copy in your folder for you, just have to delete the .orig from the end and you get your sound back.

Hope it helps anyone who might be having the same problem.
