You guys really need to Trek this game engine.
« on: December 31, 2005, 05:45:41 am »
Hay guys, I know the bulk of you would love to jump into the sprite.q3 fiile and really give SFC a face lift.
But I have to tell you I am having a Ball working with Star Shatter. Yeah the Mod'ing learning curve is a little harsh but the pays offs are well worth it.

The game is higly mod'able. Full 3d space combat sim at your finger tips. From adding in new weapons, ranges, muzzle flashs, shields, shield models, weapon sounds, Ship tonage, etc..  You name it, it has it for Trek.  Hell if you wanted to launch a series of shuttles off the Galaxy class, it can be done. Just someone would need to model in a shuttle bay, the more eye candy the better. And you can have multi-player games 24 some od people.

Oh only issue I can think of is cloaking ships and tractor beams. But with an AC setting set really low you could have an almost trek stealth ship. but thats not the same as cloaking.

Btw: these shots are in-game shots of an Robotech Mod I am doing for it.

Yeah, that looks cool.

I have heard of this Star Shatter game, but haven't tried it yet.  I think one of these days I'll stop by Matrix games and check out the demo.

I, too, HIGHLY reccomend starshatter. It is highly moddable as he says, and also the physics of it are dead on.
The creator of the project is also very very very helpful, or at least he used to be. He added a lot of coding because someone wanted to create the Babylon 5 Hyperspace system.

Its a good game engine and would be about perfect for a ST: Mod. As for the Invid I am not going to release them until I have this mod ready for downloading. Wonce that is done, I will flood ModelPlease's E-mail again with them.

Oh side thought, I would be willing to do that StarShatter: All Trek Mod wonce I get this beast done. Hell there is more than enough Trek models out there it would be fairly easy to do. Not to mention the fact Turreting ships is really time consuming and ST really has none of those.

you know, there is one thing about this game that does bother me:
No marines!, you cant have boarding actions.
No transporters either...

Well if that project creator is still co-operative, perhaps he'll write the necessary scripts to add those additional (missing) features if you ask him nicely enough...?
