Anyone free to help me run a couple of tests?

I want to test a few things on The Forge right now...

It should just require a few missions to find out if what I have done is working, I have mandatories off for now to facilitate this test.

Post here if you can join me (so others will know - as I only really need one opponent to test).

I'll be waiting on The Forge.

Ah well, I waited 45 minutes... no one showed... to be expected with KCW running...

I'll leave it in the test configuration till tomorrow... (logging to file, mandatories off)

Tests to be run:

1) Enemy PvP
2) Coop vs AI
3) Solo vs AI (already tested while waiting)

PvP DV shifts are set to 3 and non-PvP DV shifts are 1 as usual.
Pick a test hex where the shift will be obvious and check the DV shift before and after the mission.
(or quote the battle log from the webmap)

If you feel so inclined please find a partner and test #'s 1 and 2 for me, and report here, thanks.

Thanks bunches but initial tests are complete, Lepton and I just finished... and its getting late for me. I've put mandatories back on, and turned logging off but left the PvP DV shift of 3 on. You're welcome to test it out some more if anyone else shows up, but no real need for now.

I'm proud to report... IT WORKED!  :woot:

Awesomenesss, question though, how does it react with people running...some of those missions seem to side with the runner and not the holder of the hex. Any news of this?

The "patrol bug"? That should be long obsolete...

The way I have the logic set up currently, it should not matter, if there are human players with differing battle results and differing political control then a PvP DV shift should occur.

If the "patrol bug" still exists in some missions then those missions must simply be eliminated/corrected.


It occurs to me that Lepton and I did not test allied races coop.... this must be tested for initial tests to be truly complete (should only result in a DV shift of one). Would be handy if someone could test this for me...

Disclaimer:
Also, it will be some time before this can make an official build of the serverkit. MagnumMan and I have been working on a number of things, which really must be completed before I add this to the official project. (I just had the motivation to do this now). For now we can just test it out on The Forge to see if it is really working as it is intended and touched up if need be.

I must get approval to add it to an official build, we may include it in the next MySQL stability test build... I'll see what the team says.

Edit: hopefully I won't get in trouble for testing this publicly, but I think it is well worth it, a relatively minor change that can make a big difference for the good of the game.

Looking at those logs and my code this morning, it looks like an allied race coop would result in a PvP DV shift (not desired)... it needs a tweak to prevent that. We're well on the way though.  :)

Aside: I think I found the info I needed to edit current political tensions.  :)

I have adjusted the code to look for two or more non allied human players in the mission to determine if it is PvP instead of the above criteria. (As it should have in the first place.) I am uploading the test now, should have it ready in about 20 minutes...

Anyone free to help me test this version today? I'll waiting there on The Forge in about 20-30 minutes.
