Has anybody upgraded their socket 478 P4 ? I could use any P4 that is faster than 1.5/400fsb. I have a board that will take any socket 478 with selectable buss speed. If I could get a 533 or 800, that will mean a RAM upgrade to pc3200 and 2 sticks (512,256) of pc2100 will be surplus.

If anyone had an old monitor that worked halfway decently I'd be eternally grateful.  I had planned to give my seven year son an old computer I had lying around for Christmas but it turned out the monitor was blown.  It doesn't matter how big or clunky it is just so long as it can display color images.  Other than that it could be from an old IBM.

I have 1 GB PC 5300 DDR 2 Dual Channel (2 x 512 MB) 240 pinn dimms here.. they are 533 Mhz, but brand new.

I pulled them from my current machine to put in 4 GB DDR 2 @ 800 Mhz... I got the 4 GB from Tiger Direct for $129.99 with Lifetime warranty.. brand is Patriot.

Sorry, my two spare monitors both seem to be fried in someway.  I'll keep looking around here.  Make sure someone posts if you get one.  I work in a state building and they are always updating machine before july so a monitor might make it into my hands.

well it seem that my main computer have the following problem: Mother board fry, power supply fry, HD (don't know if both) fry but the video card is ok.

Monday the tech who check it out will be there so i will know mother, but don't know what is under warranty if not it will cost me a lot to replace, mother board is a good 100$, a power supply can be around 50$, if its the small HD its not bad since it was a 40 GIG but hope its not the 200GIG since i have my games on it and all my mod are there :(

Well add me to the needs a monitor list. Mine just blew out, and I am typing this using a tv screen.

I have about 100 bucks on me, and I can pay more next month, if someone has an old one laying around, they want to sell, work out a deal on. I can come up with more next month of course.

Thanks Dracho, only problem is, I haven't had a car since before Khalee left here about a year ago. I went to take him to the city one day to work and the engine blew.

I can see If I can have someone pick one up though for me there, maybe my sister.

Not a bad little monitor, Might grab another one next month. The sad thing is, My wife goes to her monthly doctor visit on the 21st, so I have to wait till then to get it. But at least my monitor problem is fixed.

Looking

For CD Rom with DVD-R capability (at least XP compatible, burning capability not required) and a SATA HDD of say 20 to 60 GB.

If the CD/DVD-r reader is XP Compatible, chances are it is Vista compatible... also my main board supports SATA HDD's.. 20 to 60 GB would be fantastic.. if I can get a 20 GB and a CD/DVD ROM drive, I can get my older system up and going to run a dedicated server for OP on. the difference in HDD sizes is the OS.. I prefer Vista to run a server kit.. it knows how to utilize Dual Core CPU's correctly and has much better memory management.. however specifications for Vista requests a 40 GB HDD.. if all I can get is a 20 GB, I can still load the system with XP.. not as efficient and more frequent reboots of the server, but the system would still be dedicated as an OP server.

Anyhow.. if anyone has and of these 2 items, please PM me.

Thanks.
