Dyanverse Setup Help!! please :o)

Hi,

I just found your website after thinking SFC2 was dead!! a few years ago I played this game every day, it's so great!!


I am trying to join in on your latest Dynaverse campaign but I keep getting told the directory servers are not found and that a firewall has been detected.

I have port forwarded all inbound and outbound to my IP address on 2300-2400 and 47624   so that should be fine right??

I did a fresh install of SFC OP

Patched with 'SFCOP_Patch_2500-2552.exe'

Installed 'sfb_op_04.exe'

Finally ran 'AOTK3_FINAL.msi' and I had to copy and paste all the stuff from this out of D:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates and into C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates

But it doesn't seem to be working???

Do I need to run the  ' sfc2_directory_server_updater.exe'  ???? Prefer not to install it if I then am told I shouldn't have

ok, answered my own question, yes. And it works !!!

Onyl problem now is my first mission the AI were shooting at each other form like 90 away and then it crashed after about 3mins ... :-/

and flew exactly the same mission in the same hex and it crashed again?


It's a hydran heavy cruiser that in the game has a graphic that looks like a glowing orange star thing is that right?

EDIT: and a 3rd time, different hex, same ship again ... I have worked out what the glowing star is, it's the invisible ship with my probe stuck ontop of it :rolleyes:

Any ideas ?

EDIT2: and a 4th, this time no probes and basicly it always crashes just after the enemy fires at me the frist time.... alway seems to be a hydran ship too, and I can't see it.

I am guessing there is problem with my models or something?? But I thought it didn't matter what I saw ... Spent the last 24 hours getting this setup and I am so close and now I am stuck, any ideas please ???

 thats one I never heard of, all I can think of reinstall and fallow instrutions to the letter and it should work, and we may be old but we are still breathing barely

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2

Do you run the game in compatibility mode for 98se ?

Just uninstalled it and am trying a default directory install, had to get rid of 1Gb Hibernation file to make space for it but its worth it for SFC

The sfb OP 04 I have is exactly 47,518,314 bytes is that right ?? I  downloaded it from a fileplanet link somewher ein the forums as the dynaverse.net one is a really slow donwload and unfortunately the whole website appeared to go down for hours last night when I had 1mb left to download...

ok, I think I see the problem now.

I downloaded and installed this:

What is it?? I thought it was what I was supposed to get as it is in the Dynaverse.net download section, but I am guessing whatever it is doesn't contain the models for OP4, so I am now downloading this:

Do I need to install both for OP4 or something?? An info greatly appreciated thanks

woohoo, success!! It was just the models files as I thought, finaly finished donwloading and up and running!!

I run op without madels would that be a problem?

I've been trying to get on this server all day but can't seem to do it.  Log in buttonis black and keeps saying I have a firewall or I'm not conected.  Loaded all the files over a brand new load but no go.

No, OP+ without models is fine.  I chose to install that version and it works fine.
